No.
Are they normally valued by an "independent" third party?

But has any other company offered " Phantom " shares in a " Phantom " ltd company ?

Up until this year as far as i'm aware noggin Royal Mail valued the colleagueshares.
This time an "independent" valuer has been appointed.
Why....i have no idea.

It could just be that, with privatisation just around the corner Royal Mail do not wish to be seen to put even a "nominal" value on the company.
I don't think that the union have asked for this....maybe dingo would know.

I would suggest not, it's more an independent valuation of the overall value of RM for potential purchasers so it wouldn't be in anyones interest to undervalue.

Would be embarrasing if the government couldn't get a buyer.
A cheaper price would lessen the chance of any embarrasment.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

It would gb. :hmmmm
I mean if you were really honestly that interested in getting top dollar you wouldn't even consider trying to sell the company in the present economic climate.

Even if the shares are a decent value there is still the issue of RM being able to afford payout.

Despite all the doom and gloom about fianances the shares are based on the value of the Group which overall is in better shape I would assume than the RML component part.

I have been talking to a couple of the lads who left on EVR late last year and they recieved £1,400 in share payments in the last week from RM.

So they have to worth that at least ....................... :vcfo

Well, when you see a car on the garage forecourt valued at say £5995, that's not the price you pay and so RM will be valued accordingly and the price will be adjusted to whatever the buyer is prepared to pay. So it's valued at .........£8billion? and the buyer pays...............£14/10s/6d :chuckle

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

They left the business and so would have received their total share entitlement, ours would be in two payments or half this year and half next year and as is often quoted - "shares can go up and down"
