Royal Mail are a JOKE!

Post by dreamscape »

I'm really P'ed with Royal Mail! :arrrghhh

I need to rant!

I've sent a item to a Ebay buyer 2 weeks ago worth £25. They have still not received it! :so there This has happened 4 times now. Its a Joke!
They palm you off with a "15 working days before you can make a claim" there having a laugh! :no no happy to have your money but when getting it back they beat around the bush!!!

Before I've had customers, get the parcel and they have had to pay extra postage because there is no stamp on it! WHAT! I seen the lady put it on! There is no way you can send a parcel without going through the counter staff, well in my post office anyway. I swear they rip them off to gain extra money. Especially when my parcels are covered in tape.

For the price I paid them. I could of sent it with UPS for a quid more and get it there the next day.

Sorry for the genuine Postal workers but there is defo something going on.

Royal Mail has gone down the pan! :d'oh!

Sorry about the rant!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Surely the Post Office would be able to check their records at the other end to see if its been delivered? or how many they have delivered to the address (parcels/letters) in a time bracket?. Fair enough they have a lot to sort out but every company have some sort of log!

Only on tracked or recorded services and certainly not by address.

28,000,000 delivery points in UK would be a vast database and would alarm people who think the Government is too much like Big Brother already.

A lot of mail to log as well in a typical year we would deal with roughly 21,274,000,000 individual items of mail - I would hate to have to work with a database dealing with those two figures.

Sorry No as the tracked and recorded items are logged locally but the information is sent electronically either at point of receipt or within 48 hours if a physical signature is required.

As to branches

40+ Mail Centres
1,500 delivery offices
60-70,000 delivery posties
8,000 + Post Offices

An average postie on a delivery has 400 addresses, just counting how much mail each address has would take most of a shift. Might be able to do it by computer at the MCs as they went through the sorting machines but there would be cost implication and a legislation compliance cost (Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts to name just 2) but that would not include the approximately 10% of mail that has to be manually sorted every day.

Nice idea from a customer perspective but to be honest completely impractical in application just on cost and volumes.

I would have thought the national average would be higher than that

Actually I would as well with the Park and No Poop method in at various offices - but thats a figure I think Dingo quoted in relation to the Delivery Supplement.

Although I have to ask why they called it a supplement - I though supplements made you feel better.

just a quick observation you mention 'Especially when my parcels are covered in tape. '

you may not realise but stamps are always falling off ( even when stuck on properly) areas that are covered in tape i see it every day - they stick on at first but fall off later - due to the tape

this may be the reason why your items are getting surcharged

I find if you put a blank sticker where the stamps are going to be and stick them onto that it solves the problem

your parcels may be delayed as the stamps have fallen off and hence are surcharged ( they have money to pay before being picked up) the customer would then receive a card to say they have an unpaid item to collect and many may not bother hence why they don't get it - you have already said some of your customers have reported this

it might not be this but it is worth a try to see if it improves things

even before P&L,i would say over 95% of our duties were over 400 calls
some as high as 900
