Bank of Ireland 50-50
Who on earth signed a deal giving the BOI a 50% share of all our sales, i know they are regulated by the BOI, so why didn't the Postoffice apply for a licence off the government to sell financial products, then we could of sold our own products and kept 100% of the money. Now i find out the profits of the bureau is shared with the BOI, why? no wonder we don't make a profit we give it all away and its the counter staff who do all the hard work and get stressed over the sales culture whilst the BOI are invisible. How come all the fs's were paid by the postoffice half of their wages should be subsidised by BOI. How on earth don't we make a profit on bureau that says it all, abysmal and poor mamagement at the top again signing contracts and they haven't got a clue what they are doing. Its all the crown counter staff again not selling enough- well i tell rwbarker and all the management i have had enough i won't be selling a stamp from now on i'm officially on strike.

I wonder if by you going on official strike, would anyone notice any difference!
Not sure where you've heard we don't make a profit on Bureau, we do.
I've only recently joined this forum and if the majority of those who spend time moaning about how unfair life is used that level of energy at work, I'm sure their branches/sections would be in profit before they knew it.
However, it's easy to offer insults and promulgate doom and gloom under the animimity of this forum, you are part of the problem, not the solution.

Re: Bank of Ireland 50-50
Astroturfing is a form of advocacy often in support of a political or corporate agenda designed to give the appearance of a "grassroots" movement. The goal of such campaigns is to disguise the efforts of a political and/or commercial entity as an independent public reaction to some political entity—a politician, political group, product, service or event. The term is a derivation of AstroTurf, a brand of synthetic carpeting designed to look like natural grass.
Astroturfers attempt to orchestrate the actions of apparently diverse and geographically distributed individuals, by both overt ("outreach", "awareness", etc.) and covert (disinformation) means. Astroturfing may be undertaken by an individual promoting a personal agenda, or highly organized professional groups with money from large corporations, unions, non-profits, or activist organizations. Very often, the efforts are conducted by political consultants who also specialize in opposition research. Beneficiaries are not "grass root" campaigners but distant organizations that orchestrate such campaigns

Welcome to RMC
Also the argument of profit over service is still a valid one but as long as you are happy on your side of it and we keep the discussion polite long may it continue.
oh sorry you meant anonymity rather than animosity didn't you.
Judging by the press stories when the ballot is only just starting - I think they might.security1 wrote:I wonder if by you going on official strike, would anyone notice any difference!
Oh good care to expand - Not in Counters myself but certainly interested in both sides of the argument - figures would be nice if they are publicly available of coursesecurity1 wrote:Not sure where you've heard we don't make a profit on Bureau, we do.
Well I am a delivery Postmen whatever we do the profit is made or lost before it gets to us and my daily workload is already stretching me so not sure how much more I can add.security1 wrote:I've only recently joined this forum and if the majority of those who spend time moaning about how unfair life is used that level of energy at work, I'm sure their branches/sections would be in profit before they knew it.

Well it was RWBarker who said we don't make a profit on the bureau actually. When all the crown office does go on strike you will notice because the queues will be around the block like last time in 2007 because i work damn hard in our office like everybody else in our branch.I deserve a payrise i work harder than any manager in the RMG so just sit back and let them walk all over us nice attitude you have got, maybe if they didn't waste so much money on conference calls, flip charts, on line coaching,fs, meeter and greeter there might be some money for the people who serve the customers all day long. Are you a security guard for Poundland?security1 wrote:I wonder if by you going on official strike, would anyone notice any difference!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think he does not like us nasty strikers who don't give out our names So he made a word up. A mixture of anonymity and animosity = animinityThe BFO wrote:I’ve just put this word into Microsoft Word thesaurus – not recognised. I then tried Google – same result.security1 wrote: animimity

There is a third option - perhaps he is bringing spirtuality into the thread and thinks strikers aren't human - Animism (from Latin anima "soul, life") refers to the belief that non-human entities are spiritual beings, or at least embody some kind of life-principle.
Its a tricky one. Perhaps he will drive by and clear it up for us.

Just for the record, I didn't say we make a loss on our travel money business. I said we share the profits 50 : 50 with our JV partner - which are good profits - but still we (the Crown Network) makes a loss, because our income is too low and our costs are too high. Don't underestimate the role BoI play in the travel money business. They buy all the currency, distribute it to branches, manage a lot of back office administration, pay for a lot of sales and marketing support etc etc et

See you on the picket line Dick.

Would you know how this would work then?rwbarker wrote:Just for the record, I didn't say we make a loss on our travel money business. What i mean is how does the 2,BOI and POL work out when the profit is the profit.
How do each work out their costs.
Is it a 100% together venture, are the costs shared, does BOI take charges out of the gross before the net is sorted.
Too many questions need to be answered.
I mean 50/50 ffs!
Someone needs to be sacked.

Hi Richard
I can see what role BOI and or First rate play in the travel money sector of the JV, but what role do POL play to justify the cut they take before they pay their agents who actually drive all the sales?
subbie
ps if the Crowns don't turn a profit on Forex sales, why don't you restrict the over the counter sales to Subs only?

Maybe they want to limit the opportunities?
Come the mutualisation....
