Protest in Nottingham over Royal Mail sell-off

Hundreds of people are set to protest in Nottingham against government plans to privatise the Royal Mail.

The demonstration is the latest in a campaign by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) against the proposals.

Postal workers and local residents are expected to take part in Saturday's rally.

Lee Barron, Midlands regional secretary for the CWU, said: "People in Nottingham don't want the post to be privatised."

He said: "We've already seen post office closures in Nottinghamshire and privatisation will bring more cuts and closures.

"Private companies are only interested in profit, not in delivering mail to every house, urban or rural, six days a week."
