My Postman application
Hi again,
I applied to be a postman a month or so ago. Since then i passed my interview and was subsequently offered a job as a postman at my local delivery office.
I was then told i would be contacted to arrange a start date when my security checks came back. My online application status currently reads 'security checks passed'.
It has said this for just under a week yet i have had no contact, despite emailing recruitment support twice.
Am i just being impatient, or should i be worried?
Any helps appreciated :)

Re: My Postman application
Took about 3 months for me from being told i'd got the job to actually starting.
Not sure why but they do take their time.
Just hold tight.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Jesus! Really?!. Hope it doesn't take that long! I kinda need a job to stop me going insane at the moment lol....oh and the money would be good too :P.
During my interview the interviewer was saying she needed posties ASAP lol, so i just assumed i'd be starting soon. I'll have to be a little more patient me thinks.

there does seem to be quite a few PT leaving our DO at the moment though so maybe it will work in your favour.

Re: My Postman application
25 to be honest is not too bad for a new starter these days - some start at 20 and a few years ago we had 1hour and even 0 hour contractsMark_Law22 wrote:Just 25, which isn't great. But its better than nothing i guess.

Most posties I think at the moment will be on a 30 hour or 39/40 hour contracts.
Welcome and good luck.

Re: My Postman application
What do you reckon the likelihood is of them keeping me on after the initial 3 month contract, and would they then give me more hours?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Most posties I think at the moment will be on a 30 hour or 39/40 hour contracts.Mark_Law22 wrote:Just 25, which isn't great. Re: My Postman application
To be honest the chances depend entirely on whats happening locally so I wouldn't like to hedge a guess. Some units are taking extra staff on, others are getting rid of them, and in others longer serving posties are leaving giving opportunities for others It's all in flux so I would keep your ears to the ground when you start.Mark_Law22 wrote:What do you reckon the likelihood is of them keeping me on after the initial 3 month contract, and would they then give me more hours?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Most posties I think at the moment will be on a 30 hour or 39/40 hour contracts.Mark_Law22 wrote:Just 25, which isn't great.
