Unoffical addresses

Post by Arty »

What happens when a postman gets a letter for a building that isn't on the Royal Mail database?

So, if i put a letter box in my shed and start telling people to send me letters there, what are the rules? Can you get in trouble if you post them there?

I am thinking of moving my office to my house and working from home but I want to give out an address that gives a better impression than" 10 Acacia Avenue".

I am thinking X Publishing, Acacia Avenue and having a word with the postie and showing him the separate mailbox round the side of teh house. I don't want to get him into trouble though, or print stationary if this isn't going to work out.

If it is not an official address with a postcode then it's a no no.
Your business address should be...

X publishing 10 Acacia Avenue ,any town AT1 2RM.

Not..

X publishing Acacia Avenue ,any town AT1 2RM.

So what are the consequences for me/the postman if I go ahead?

My neighbor will probably tell on me if he can but who will care?

Are there any places I can see these rules?

Why not get a PO Box. You can call it X Publishing, PO Box 21134, Acacia Ave, Anytown and then fill in the paperwork to state that you want
the postie to deliver to 10 Acacia ave.

Ok,say i'm your postie and you tell me,not a problem.
The problem starts in the office with the sorting of your mail, unless i go around and tell everyone in the office what i have done your mail will be returned to sender.
Plus being your postie i will not always be on the round,i will be sick at times, holidays,i may even lose the round.

You can't do it,end of!

Get a PO box as Broxi suggests.
