A MAN claims a delivery driver lashed out at his dog after it came running out at him.

Paul Maybury says the attack has left Buster, a one-year-old Jack Russell, frightened to go to the front door.

The incident happened after he ordered a Scrabble board game from Argos.

A package arrived at the house and he opened the door to sign for it, but claims the driver became nervous when the dog run out to greet him and kicked it.

He said: “I had a package delivered and the driver heard my dog barking. Buster escaped through my legs and run out the front.

“The driver booted him. I think it scared him at the time.

“He’s not injured, but he’s only little and he legged it upstairs.”

The incident has left Buster jittery when anyone comes to the house in Highcliffe Road, Wickford, to visit.

Mr Maybury, 34, said: “When someone knocks on the door now, Buster seems a bit hesitant of going down there.

“I telephoned customer services at Argos to complain and was kept holding on for ages. I was told they would call me back, but no one seems to be bothered.”

A spokeswoman for Argos said the delivery had been carried out by courier company HDNL and they would be contacting them to ensure the incident was investigated.

A spokeswoman for HDNL said: “I have requested a driver interview is undertaken as we will not tolerate such behaviour from any of our employees and must apologise profusely for the distress that the alleged actions have caused to the client and his family.

“I have instructed the general manager of our Romford site to contact Mr Maybury to discuss the matter further.”

Looks like he will have a fair and unbiased conduct interview then  .If he gets the tin tack then he should use this article at his ET.
