It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Exactly.

Changing the IMEI is illegal in the UK. OUTSIDE of the UK, Eastern Europe and the Far East for example, there is a massive market for just that.

Why don't you stop kidding yourself?

You were lied to by the buyer and your iphone is as we speak, overseas somewhere, the pride of place on a desk in a country that it isn't available yet.

The very reason they mentioned to you to report it is that there is not a chickens chance in Thailand that it can be proved that they did receive it.

People pay over £700 for iphone 4s on ebay, (blocked or not), all going overseas. I would imagine your original 'buyer/recipient' has done quite well out of you being a little 'green'.

As Yoda may put it "An expensive lesson you have learned."
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Was the recipient another student? I only ask ask this because I was a student once and lived in several houseshares where others would have access not only to the collection card but also ID if so minded.

The outcome should be...guy trusts a buyer, guy gets screwed over by the buyer or his mate, guy learns a lesson.
...but he's probably still on the phone to Customer Services... :whistle

Presumably, as this unhappy customer has not updated us for 12 days since he said he was going to the Police, they have explained to him that the most likely explanation is that of theft of identity at the buyers address, leading to theft of item.

No doubt the buyer is unhappy too, having handed over the money and not received the goods, if this was an e-Bay deal, I believe that there is a process for recovery of loss by both parties.

What a shame that this customer felt it necessary to cast a slur on all those who work for Royal Mail and the Post Office.
