Product Service Specialists
Has anyone out there a view on the new Product Service Specialist posts that they are looking to fill - 2 in each crown office. Is this just the business looking for someone to blame when the targets are not reached and hitting them with the big stick.I dont think there will be many offices who will be able to increase their income by the £3000 pa required.

Re: Product Service Specialists
It's bollocks. Plain and simple. And yes it is so they can blame someone when it goes tits up.
ANYONE who takes the role/s is either very naive or very stupid.
I have read the full agreement, the joint statement, the managers brief and the Q&A on it so am well informed.
What do our other POL colleagues on here think?

Re: Product Service Specialists
In the region of an average £8000 per week extra sales of Travel Money above target, and around 40 Special Delivery per week above target to get the allowance. Not a chance in hell for most offices.
Just off to the WTL briefing on it now – I’m really going to enjoy this – think I might take the kids…

Re: Product Service Specialists
How can i put this, in a shouty way that everyone will hear... VOLUNTEERS!!!!!!monica wrote:our bureau lady was told if she didnt take the pss role and no one else in the office wanted it then they would move someone in from another office to do it and move one of us out.
Come on people, the CWU sent out the Q&A's for the PSS conference call a couple of weeks ago, and quite clearly it stated that ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS THERE WOULD BE MOVEMENTS.
This was signed off by CWU and POL.
If someone is saying otherwise they are just putting the s**t up you to scare you into taking the role.
PUT ALL LTBs ON THE UNION WALL WHERE EVERY MEMBER OF STAFF CAN SEE THEM. That will stop a lot of the bullshit.
If you didn't get the LTB or any others for that matter contact your Branch Secretary and they will/should sort it out. Make sure that the union has at least a contact name at each office, rather than just "CWU members" as I have found that these get swiftly consigned to the bin whereas "John Smith, CWU contact" tend not to be thrown away so easily..
Honestly, (and this isn't directed only at you monica), it infuriates me that a large amount of staff are unaware of what I would class as trivial facts, and in the not knowing become a target from managers because they are uninformed etc.
KEEP YOURSELVES INFORMED
Rant over.

Re: Product Service Specialists
My eyes glaze over, and I feel very weak when I read this sort of thing. Without checking and from memory, am I not correct in saying that only one Product Service Specialist for both Travel Money, and Express Services, is allowed per office? So where does the ‘everyone has to be one’ come in? It sounds like one of the ‘new rules’ that my Branch Manager oft invents.simjan wrote:Hi Just wondering if this is now the norm, that everyone has to be eighter product specialist, or meeter greeter, seeing as we have no meeter greeter in our office been told everyone has to be product specialist, Thanks, If you are not eighter you do not go up pay scale, Thanks
Would someone please pass the Valium?

Re: Product Service Specialists
product sales specialists are express mails and travel and you can only have one of each. For the rest of the office it is either product champion or meeter greeter and both roles are voluntary they cannot force a role on you. Not once does it say in any agreement that if one role is not available you have to take the other. We should have a meeter greeter in our office however because of all the cuts the post office has made regarding staff it is not possible for the staff who chose meeter greeter role to be able to do this which is not their fault. Last year when pdr,s came around my manager wanted staff who picked the meeter greeter roles to become product champions instead which they didn't want to. The reason for this was that the business had said you have to be one or the other and my manager said we could not fulfil the meeter greeter role. My reply to this was 'so what , they had a choice and they chose meeter greeter and that the busness had made it impossible for them to do the role because of staff cuts and in the booklet that was given to us telling about each job role not at one time did it say if one role is not available you have to do the other and also it was a voluntary role. My managers reply to me was how were they going to be marked because they would have to be marked down. I told no to this and it 's not for me to resolve except to state the facts that the post office had put in black and white for us all to see.
