Customer notice:Tracked/Track And Trace mail delays

Post by POSTMAN »

Please note THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL CUSTOMER NOTICE.

With regards to the 1st bout of bad weather.

If you are having problems with a Royal Mail Tracked/Track and Trace item and it shows that is is either at a RDC(Regional Distribution Centre)or MC (Mail Centre) and it shows that it has been there for some time, then please note that the chances are it is not stuck there and that it has moved on but because of the weather previously, the current backlog and the extra xmas post it has not been updated on Royal Mail systems.

Although this is unofficial we are getting reports from front line posties that because of the huge backlog caused,a lot of the stuff has not been scanned in on parts of it's route which it should be,this is the main reason for the confusion/lack of information on Royal Mail's system.

There 'may' be occasions where the item is in the delivery office and has not been scanned yet as some offices still have a backlog.

Although not much help, most of the mail delayed due to the 1st bout of bad weather is probably ready or near ready to be delivered.
But now unfortunately we have a 2nd bout of bad weather which will slow things down again.
It is just a case of waiting.

Normal packets would be the same apart from the 'scanning' part, but weather permitting extra man hrs are being put in to clear them in some places.

Latest unofficial info.
It seems that we maybe catching up on the backlog.
For some it may not be much help but at least things seem to be moving a bit quicker.

We seem to be clearing through loads of packets now, some dated from 8 December until the 8th December. But I have heard that NIMC has 200,000 packets still to go out :hmmmm I hope it's not true.

Great!

Well it's now 2011 (Happy New Year).

What is the excuse now for Track and Trace mail delays since early/mid December?

We have had reports over the last couple of days that Mail Centres have been processing loads of tracked items.
There is still a backlog of the stuff and it could be that way for a week...................................maybe longer.

My package has been in North West Distribution Centre since 30th December but has still not been delivered to Bramhall.
How can I find out what is wrong and when it will be brought to me?

What sort of packet is it, Special Delivery, Recorded, Tracked signed, tracked unsigned etc - it'll help answer your query for any posties in your general area.

It's a tracked package from Amazon. I can quote the Tracking number if that helps. I was not sure if this is 'sensitive' info which is why I haven't stated it yet.

On 02/08/2011 I took a parcel weighing 3.200 kg to the post office to be sent (from Northern Ireland to England), which was sent Recorded 1st class Packet. It was posted before last collection, and I have tried the online track & trace! . It is showing up as

Delivered date: Still to be delivered
Reference no:AI28*******GB
Status:Try Later
Item AI28*******GB was posted on 02/08/11 and is being progressed through our network for delivery.

It has only been 2 days you might say, but I tried entering the details of another item Royal Mail have "mislaid", posted on 06/06/2011, and the same message appears. If Track & Trace is up to date, neither item even appears to have been collected from the Post Office. I would have expected some sort of progress report after 2 months, even from Royal Mail. It seems Track & trace! is just a con to extract more money out of customers, because it obviously doesn't work. The dizzy girl at the Post Office counter, only sent it 1st class instead of express48, even though I told her it was worth over £100. It looks like my forgiving, "give them another go" attitude has just cost me another £100?

Recorded 1st class is not a tracked service.
It will only be updated when it is delivered.
With regards to your original package...have you instigated an investigation?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
