1st Class Recorded sent to Bury but still not delivered Help

Post by Hagi »

Hi all,
I hope someone can give me any information or help to my query...?
I sent a letter by 1st class recorded delivery on the 30th December 2010 from my home town Erith (DA8) going to Bury (BL9)...
When I type in the reference number on Track & Trace it states the same infomation that it is being processed through our network. It has been saying this for 20 days now..
I never have this problem so I am thinking there was no post due to a bank holiday & weekends & delay because of the snow we had plus the extra christmas post..!
I have phoned Royal Mail who told me what the Track & Trace stated that it was being processed...!
Does anyone know if there are delays in bury & where is the sorting office as I thought I could try & contact the sorting office to see if it was there ..?
Many Thanks for reading & any help.....!

Have you phoned the person to see if they got the item? Some people just post the item and don't get a sign for it.

Hi, I have phoned the person & it has not arrived, so am wondering where it is now...! Would it state on the track & trace if it has been delivered even though it might not get signed for...? Just because when I have received 1st class recorded post myself our postman does not always get me to sign for it, but would it come up on the system as being delivered..?
Thankyou

If its been 20 days i would think its been lost so i would put in a claim, you can get a claim form from your local po.
also recorded delivery is a waste of 74p more than half of them dont get signed for, or postie signs for himself or just leave on doorstep.

WTF am I doing, every signed for that I get (except the couple from Ireland and Signapore which don't go into the PDA) I get signed, it's my job, it's what I'm paid for and if I need to claim OT or cut off then I do................why bother taking shortcuts these days

The recorded service is only tracked when it get's signed for, up until then it's not tracked at all so any information on the RM site is never going to be right.

Not neccessarily. I'm not 100% certain, but I think it would have gone via Warrington MC. In which case, it's probably stuck in the backlog there.

yes i can, my wife runs an online bussiness and sent out 312 packages between 31/8/10 to 31/12/10 out of that 312 , 137 items never got signed.
you only have to look at the forums on ebay to see all the moaning about postman not getting signatures and a few other forums on the web.
the problem is that 10% of the workforce hate them, iv bet you heard the postie ff and blinding in the yard about how many recordeds he got on a saturday then chucking his pounch in the van.

i did twelve years as a postman and saw it all and that was in the good old days.

I have never knowingly signed for a recorded that was not mine, nor have I failed to try and get a signature - so my evidence proves that 100% of posties do the same. Of course my evidence is crap it proves nothing, just like your position its empirical and therefore subjective.

Your evidence is not evidence that over half do not get signed (in fact your evidence proves the opposite from the figures you gave :left: ) It does however highlight a problem of lack of professionalism. I really cannot understand why people don't provide the service paid for, and strangely the only one in my office that has ever admitted to doing this has a very high seniority.
