Re: Midland Mail Centres Review - 90 day consultation!
When there is a review there is an official announcement and there is usually a statement about what is planned. I was told by someone very senior last year that my MC was going to be closed and amalgamated into a super centre which came as a shock. So I did my own research, looked at he previous reviews and spoke to loads of people and found that what I had been told was nonsense.
Yes there are people that know exactly which centres are going to be closed but there will not be announcements until the reviews in each area are announced, that is part of the agreement. Best person to speak to is a senior processing or MC manager.

As if THEY are going to tell you...... They'll be too busy looking after their "mates" and "favourites" in the office.......dodger162 wrote: Best person to speak to is a senior processing or MC manager.
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

and to top it off moral very low, so much for the coaching managers have when they arrive at south midskendo1 wrote:Heard from differen Doms all saying the same thing South Midlands Mail center,Poor INEXPIRENCED MANAGEMENT,giving a really poor service to delivery offices thats getting worse, not my comments, but 3 different doms at different times all said the same!
we had our conseltation meeting and to me sounded like they were scaring the staff in to thinking south mids could close cos of the failures and apparently we are likely to get a 2million pound fine (cant remember what for now, prob failures of some sort)

I have to agree with you on South Midlands mail centre, if that is the future then I am off!! I go in there every night as a Network driver, i cannot believe that they are still using casuals on the sorting and also agency drivers doing the van runs! Also they seem incapable of bringing the work over on time for the despatch, and then they pushi it over all over in one go when you are about to close the doors. Something needs to be done about it.

Wolves Birmingham and Northampton are all safe. Wolves is likely at some stage to pick up the TF postcode area and possibly WR/HR aswell.

Re: Midland Mail Centres Review - 90 day consultation!
The 90 day consultation process began on 14 Jan so the plan should be announced around mid-april and then there is a further 90 days for alternatives to be put forward. Wolves/Birmingham/Northampton are large MCs and will not close, if you look at what has happened in other reviews you can see what's likely to happen.

Re: Midland Mail Centres Review - 90 day consultation!
If it were a new build it would mean the merger of Wolves/Birmingham/Worcester. I think that's unlikely due to the size of the city. If you look at London there will still be 5 MCs after the closures. Jubilee and Greenford are less than 10 miles apart but there are no plans to merge them.
Midlands is likely to have 4 MCs after the review. Seems strange that CV went to South Mids as Birmingham is closer. Nottingham is WCM but doubt the current site could take DE and LE aswell.
New builds are not the 1st choice due to the cost, cheaper to use exising MCs and expand if possible (Swindon, Leeds, Newcastle)

Rumour in our MC is that NG,DE & LE are to go into a NEW MC to be built near East Mids Airport / M1.dodger162 wrote:. Nottingham is WCM but doubt the current site could take DE and LE aswell.

Re: Midland Mail Centres Review - 90 day consultation!
Yes that is a possibility as Derby is small and on a bad site and Leicester is cramped. The other possibility is that DE could go into Nottingham as has been planned for years and LE into South Mids if CV were transferred to Birmingham. Can't imagine the current Nottingham MC site is large enough to take DE and LE.
And what's the rumour about the MC you work in, is it somewhere in Anglia?

Re: Midland Mail Centres Review - 90 day consultation!
another thing is that the workers at our place who were on rolling contracts have had letters saying that they're employment with the company will end in june.
