Moya Greene has followed up her letter to MPs by writing to members of the House of Lords, making it clear that we support the Postal Services Bill and highlighting the case for regulatory reform.

It follows last week's House of Commons vote in favour of the Bill.

The Bill will now be considered by the House of Lords. It will have its second reading on 25 January.

In her letter, Moya highlights the issues with current regulation, which effectively means we subsidise our competitors to the tune of £160 million a year by making it compulsory for us to give them access to our network and guaranteeing them price margins.

She says: "We fully support the need for a regulatory framework. The Group believes that what is at issue, however, is the breadth of the current regulatory regime and its specific impact on Royal Mail.

"No other European universal service provider faces such a regime."

Although she makes some valid points about regulation and the USO maybe Moya Greene would be better advised to seek some input from her employees before making it clear that we support the Postal Services Bill !!!

If investment can turn in a profit for the new buyer why can't it do so for the country ????

Actually compared to the Grabber Crozier she is relatively cheap apparently the rumour is she is on about £400,000 a year and is full time. Still too much though.

That is quite intriguing ,it raises a very interesting question.

I seem to recall MR Cable being relieved of any responsibility in the review of Murdochs planned acquisition of SKY for expressing his opinion.

Yet we have a CEO in charge of a public service who is opposed to RM remaining as a public service. She is not taking part in a review ,she is running a service that she does not support
