99.9% of them you can but as there are 160,000 of us that still leaves 16 - I know of no town or city with a population of similar size that has no crime at all

Re: Postal Theft
Truth of the matter is Royal Mail theft by it's employee's is rife.
It is a huge problem that results in a mulitude of claims every year.
Sure few people may have been prosecuted...but this glosses over the fact that many get away with it and are undetected,or sacked. It's especially prevelant in sorting offices(your reg postie is generally decent because he is familiar on his round)...a nice small but heavy parcel with standard economy postage inevitably goes 'missing'.
Believe me Ive had over 35yrs experience around the country. If you want to send anything of value always pay the extra...
I don't wish to scaremonger...rather offer a little reality :dcfo

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Postal Theft
IMHO Not a good introduction to a site that has Royal Mail staff in abundance on it - are you espousing an opinion or presenting facts. Lets examine your post.
No evidence presented so at best its supposition, at worst its a biased view based on empirical evidence.philbo1965uk wrote:Truth of the matter is Royal Mail theft by it's employee's is rife.
Define Multitude. To me multitude means "a greater number of" - so you assertion is more gets stolen than delivered.philbo1965uk wrote:It is a huge problem that results in a multitude of claims every year.
Inevitability goes missing - what no parcels that fit your description ever get delivered. BTW if you get sacked in RM for thieving then you will get prosecuted if IB do their job.philbo1965uk wrote:Sure few people may have been prosecuted...but this glosses over the fact that many get away with it and are undetected,or sacked. It's especially prevalent in sorting offices(your reg postie is generally decent because he is familiar on his round)...a nice small but heavy parcel with standard economy postage inevitably goes 'missing'.
35 years experience of what - without saying that line is pointless.philbo1965uk wrote:Believe me Ive had over 35yrs experience around the country
RM recommend exactly that and to be honest its common sense.philbo1965uk wrote:If you want to send anything of value always pay the extra...
Sorry did not see any reality in your post. Biased Opinion with a distinct lack of information or sources to back up that opinion, but nothing approaching reality.philbo1965uk wrote:I don't wish to scaremonger...rather offer a little reality :dcfo

Re: Postal Theft
Well personally, I have 14 years experience of working in Sorting Offices. And in that time, I know of only 3 instances of Theft locally. 2 were successfully prosecuted, and 1 escaped. However, the one that got away, was when we had an influx of Agency Staff. And although I'm not accusing Agency Staff of being dishonest. It was an isolated incident, and let's face it: If someone got away with it, they'd carry on stealing, wouldn't they?philbo1965uk wrote:Truth of the matter is Royal Mail theft by it's employee's is rife.

For several years, we've had CCTV in the Sorting Offices (RDCs, MCs, Rail Terminals). So it's much easier to catch, and prosecute theives. So I can't see how there could be any validity to your accusation that thefts are more common with indoor workers. How would they get away with it, when there's 24 hour surveilance?
Obviously, not every camera is monitored all the time. But they all record, and those tapes/DVDs (depending on what equipment is on site) are kept for months. So if anything goes missing, they can go back over the tapes, and catch the b*****ds!
Perhaps you should try getting your facts straight, before making such serious, and public accusations in the future, eh?

Eh? You must have been very unlucky then because i've bought and sold hundreds of items that match that description on e-bay and never had any go missing! That probably makes me a little bit lucky yes,but also would seem to indicate that your "35 years experience" doesn't stop you from talking utter rubbish!
