Derby & Nottingham & Leicester into a NEW MC built somewhere out in the sticks???

Wouldn't put it past them!
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

RM were looking for a site close to the M1 j23/24 to build/lease to cover them 3 MC's

Also on that same point rumors also suggest a new DO to cover Grantham/Sleaford/Newark with WSM
J23 M1 is one of the worst places for bottlenecks of traffic! Looks like all will get their mail at DOs by Tea Time!

That is so funny, managers calling other managers poor! :left:

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I don't think there has been an official announcement of a review and it's likely that several areas will be announced at once. The safe MCs will be Birmingham (likely to take Worcester), Wolves and South Midlands. Nottingham MC is on the list for WCM, is it big enough to take Derby and Leicester? Could Nottingham be extended or might Leicester go into South Midlands?
There are also rumours of a new MC being built near East Mids airport but then why would Nottingham be on the list for WCM?

Derby MC seems doomed to be honest. Theres no room for expansion into a WCM and the access is pretty poor for trucks. Rumours are that the lease for the building is up soon as well so its pretty obvious it wont last much longer! East midlands airport seems like a sensible place to put a large MC so i doubt RM will go with that! :chuckle

Any improvements brought about by WCM, can easily be transferred to a new site. It's mostly about the way we do the job, rather than the building itself. WCM is being rolled out to EVERY RM site, eventually. Although it's really a fallacy, to call it that. As they're only cherry picking bits the bits of the method, that they want. And ignoring the most important bit.

The basis for a successful World Class System. Is to involve those who're actually DOING the job, in the running of the business. We're a valuable resource, which is usually (particularly in RM) ignored. Yet, as anyone at a WCM site will know: It's mostly Managers who're heading up the "Pillars". Instead of the "Pillars" being run by the Workers, who should then be reporting back to Managers, for the final say. As a result, WCM in RM will IMHO ultimately fail.

Still, it's a good way of justifying excessive levels of Management. By sending them on courses, and giving them numerous roles in the WCM "Pillars". I wonder if that's the reason (they can't face having to do OPG work again). Or if they're just too scared of us showing them up, by coming up with far more effective ways of working? :hmmmm
How many times, have we had disasters, because of their hairbrained schemes? :hmmmm
Just look at what's happening now, with the reviews. :arrrghhh

... and the access is pretty poor for trucks. Agreed. Remember the time when someone nearly demolished the gatehouse just out of sight to the right. One gateman always vacated the flimsy building when a truck went in or out.

where do you get your information from about the mail centre review. as usual royal mail like to inflate the rumours to make people think it`s their mail centre that`s closing.
Just some clear cold facts of information would be nice somebody somewhere knows which centres are going.
