Does anyone have any idea how the backlog of the 40,000 items is getting on - has it been taken 'off site' to sort them ? (having seen a fleet of royal mail juggernauts one Sunday morning heading towards Long Marston !)
I have letters/parcels posted recently arriving promptly and yet am waiting for other stuff that was posted weeks ago ??!!

Re: Stratford sorting office
How do you know there are 40,000 items stuck?
Anyway chances are depending on the conditions up there,there will be movement this week to clear whatever backlog is there.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Stratford sorting office
From what I hear, stratford isn't getting any better. There shouldn't be any letter items 'stuck', just delayed (i.e. new items in go to the bottom of the pile). While there were official reports of 40k items that is probably only about a day's mail. It may be possible that priority is given to 1st and 2nd class which would mean that cheque books etc which are sent as mailsort could be a bit later.

ROYAL Mail has given an undertaking that Christmas post to homes in Stratford district will be delivered in time.
It follows concern that changes at the Stratford sorting office led to problems with deliveries across the district, including villages such as Little Wolford near Shipston.
Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi, who met the Royal Mail's regional delivery director last Friday, said: “I was extremely pleased to hear Royal Mail confirm that despite their issues they will deliver all packages and letters posted before the Christmas deadlines in time for Christmas.”
He said he would be keeping an eye on the situation.

POSTAL BACKLOG NOW TOTALS 90,000 ITEMS - STRATFORD
http://www.stratford-herald.com/mainstory.php?ID=2533" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
UP to 40 Royal Mail managers will join staff at Stratford-upon-Avon Sorting Office today (Thursday) to clear a backlog alleged to contain a staggering 90,000 items as Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi demands those responsible for the delivery failures are held to account, writes Rebekah Smith.
More than two months after problems began delivery staff were told during a meeting yesterday (Wednesday) that Royal Mail bosses want the backlog cleared by Sunday.
The news offers hope to frustrated residents and businesses still waiting for payments, important documents and Christmas cards posted as long ago as late November.
But one postman told the Herald he thought it would take at least two weeks to clear the enormous backlog and the managers coming in today would be the first help staff have received for six weeks. He described the situation as “a farce” and in reference to Royal Mail’s official statement blaming December’s snowfall for the continuing chaos, added: “The weather was just the excuse they were looking for.”
