Re: Icicle dangers...
Lots of deaths each year in Russia ,silent and quick. Quite a few deaths in Germany with ice thrown off wind turbine blades . Think the record fatal distance is 2.4km

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The hanging icicles hung from the gutter like frozen teeth bared by a cold and heartless beast.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

Re: Icicle dangers...
I was breaking them off where possible from the front of peoples doors today, they thought i was being nice and helpful, i just didn't want speared in the back while shoving stuff through the letterbox :P
Also saw some monster icicles that were about 8ft long, hanging down the side of some tenement blocks, luckily not in a place where someone might be walking.

Re: Icicle dangers...
Walking past some metal guttering that must of fell off some houses on my day off...icicles are the least of my worries. Imagine getting knocked out by a one metre piece of guttering
Plastic ones would be fine...i think.

No. Falling from that height, they'd still give you a nasty knock on the head. But they're no-where near as bad as the metal ones. Because they're heavier, and would have more momentum, by the time they hit you.

If you get hit on the head with a two metre length of cast-iron guttering falling from 20 feet your next of kin will be picking up your death in service benefit....you're head will cave in like melon hit by a 10 pound hammer.

Precisely. I just didn't want to scare anyone. Although, even plastic ones, will give you a nasty concussion. And could potentially break your Skull! But at least, you'd live to tell the tale.

You'd also have your 15 mins of fame by being mentioned in the 'gutter' press!
