We've been thinking long and hard in our branch as to how to help Richard Barker in his quest for profitability. Then it struck us! :Very Happy

Instead of hacking off the hard working POSTAL OFFICERS by trying to drive down their standard of existence :evil/mad why not make full use of the fixtures and fittings that we have at our disposal in some branches.

So we hot footed it to Poundland, bought a shed load of cheap toys and installed a new member of staff in the AEI machine.

Now for £5 you get a meet and greet with Santa, a photo and a toy. Simples. :chuckle

Business is brisk, the old fellah only needs a few crumbs for his reindeers as payment (Richard will like that) and as a bonus we all get a load of manure for the roses. We can pile that with all the sh*t we get free in the weekly WTL. :left:

What is that machine for? Got one in my local Crown Office gathering dust.

It's officially called an AEI (Application Enrolement and Identity) machine.

Currently only used for renewal of photocard driving licences but it was intended for the ID card sheme that's now been scrapped. Further uses will probably be along the lines of passport applications etc.

To be honest we think it's better used as a grotto. :Very Happy

Also used by our Financial Specialist as a place to hide from disgruntled Post Office/Bank Of Ireland customers demanding their money back…

Have turned numerous customers away - only allowed to train 5 staff because of cost of CRB, so frequently times when there are no trained staff about. Of course they could have trained more full timers to provide more cover but that is the sort of trap that us idiots on the counter would fall for :no no

Incidentally I can check manual driving licence applications, handle cash and sensitive data, even access other offices in my role with HOl earlier this year, so why do I need a CRB check for this one transaction?

We tell customers it's a tanning booth, Punch and Judy booth or a Lottery position for the millionaire winners who don't want any publicity.
