The JOB of being a postie isn't what's stressful. It's the way we're often treated, and the attitudes we have to deal with.

I think Joe Public has a lot of sympathy for their postie.
They know that our job is physically demanding, they see us out in all weathers, they know our bosses are a bunch of twats (they know that cos I tell them), they know we struggle to provide them with a decent service under very difficult circumstances.

You're dafter than you look (that's a supposition, no need to go running and telling tales that I called you daft.. ) if you believe that is true in the current financial situation and ConDem campaign to cull millions of Public Sector workers.
Inefficient, too much casual sick, makes a load on overtime on top of a very good basic wage, too much post going astray for whatever reason, and retires early on a gold-plated pension.
And they know that's true because the Mail, Express and Sun tells them it is.

Your first sentence doesn't make grammatical sense but never mind.
The humble postie remains (in the absence of any Bobbies on the beat) one of the most trusted people in the community. I can gain access to any building by simply announcing that it is the Postie at the door. People trust us.
Are we inefficient? I doubt they think that when they recieve poorly addressed mail.
Do we retire early with gold-plated pensions? I doubt anyone thinks that, not even your Mail/Sun/Express readers. The hole in our pension fund gets more press and that's why we need to "modernise".
Do we get loads of o/t on top of a good basic wage? I doubt the average person in the UK could physically do the extremely demanding job we now do, and as I said before we do it in all weathers, usually still with a smile on our face. I doubt anyone begrudges us our wage (which ain't that great) and I doubt very much if your Sun/Express/ Mail readers have a clue how much o/t a postie does.

And as for me being daft..... I once had a manager like you who assumed that because I chose to work as a postie I must be his intellectual inferior. So I insisted he use my full title on the signing-in sheet so it read - Clashcityrocker BA (Hons). And I wasn't the best educated postie in the DO.
So take your silly little prejudices and hide them behind your iSLM. It just makes you look small.

Now why would you do that? I know those dumb ideas about pensions and sick leave aren't true so why would you feel the need to list why they aren't true if it wasn't me you were answering?
I just hope all that studying for the BA wasn't in any subject involving English or any form of reasoning or logic. Clearly it would have been a waste if so.

i think we all must be right fu**in mental to allow this agreement to be forced on us in first place.
as for tsman he/she must not have much of a clue how stress anxiety depression works look it up half wit and try and educate yourself with facts on how this problem works.
it doesnt matter what your job / title is this is a modern disease affecting many people .
what is a stressful job
answer every job is stressful its how each individual copes especially with change and we havnt exactly had a settled structure in our working life patterns with rm .and yes im sorry to say incompetance from stressed mgmt and forcing incorrect standards and procedures on workers has only one affect.
god our office looks like the cuckoos nest most days
rm wouldnt admit it but stress anx, deppr are probably the biggest cause of abscence from work now
also ask for suicide attempts etc related to work envioraments
they wont tell you if figures were released nationally regards all workplaces and mgmt harr/ bull
etc there would national outcry
but we would be all too depressed to do anything about it
