Horizon OnLine

What goes on at Horizon HQ (assuming they still have any staff left after all the cutbacks)?

I should be as knowledgeable as most people about the system, having been on the migrations team, but soon after I got back on the counter they seemed to introduce a fault where all the options you select in post mail item are cleared when you hit enter. I rang the helpline, whoacknowledged it was a national problem. So why do I still get this problem weeks later?* And why does my printer stop printing halfway through most receipts with a red box on the screen?* They could have fixed it, but no, they used their precious staffing resources to update the PB cheque deposit screen. I don't know about you but I do a lot more postings than cheque deposits :Very Happy

Great idea putting the Counter News (sorry Ops Focus) online. "Ah its quiet, I'll just have a quick read to catch up, now then Help, F1, F11, F2, F3...here we are - oh a customers just come in...Close".

And don't get me started on spoiling tax discs. FOUR operations to deal with one  * One of our girls had only done 3 of the operations (!) but it took ages to go through all the little bits of paper and figure out what had happened. Had to refer to the Help system, but of course they had carefully missed out the crucial piece of info. All it needs is one button marked 'spoiled MVL', zap disc, then the computer should be capable of doing all the admin. Well, the computer IS capable, it's the programmers who aren't.

Speaking of which, what goes on with the Find (T1) function within help? I typed in a phrase from a hardcopy of a page it wanted to go back to and hit 'exact phrase' - the search failed :arrrghhh Honestly, I've written better software to index a collection of model railway magazines. (Yeah, I know, but I've got to get my mind off work somehow!)

The items marked thus (*) should be cross-referenced with the thread on Q-busters as they waste far more time than loading a printer will a roll of paper!

I just hit the Enter key repeatedly as hard as I can. Hopefully that will wreck all the Keyboards and concentrate the minds.
