It's flawed, it's rubbish and it's dangerous.... so be extremely careful.

Surely you could omit clearing the stack on the old Horizon system (and ECCO for that matter) with the same horrible consequences - or am I thinking of another problem??

Still, I don't dispute the fact that some bits are very "messy":
The Quantity button is a retrograde step compared with the old system.
What seems like a recently introduced 'fault' (issue??) is when you are trying to post a mail item, select the format, then press the Enter key, only for the format to sometimes reset to None. Very frustrating when you are doing 30 Ebays.
And the worst bit are the cash and stamp declaration screens - so clumsy compared with just pressing Enter after each amount.
I've seen two terminals with the same user logged on both

The problem with the 'Preferences' on the Posting Items screen is widespread in my area. I called it in to the 'Helpdesk' and they advised rebooting (do they ever suggest anything else?), this does clear the problem for a while, but it soon returns.

Surely you all realise that this is the Beta version, and we are all just bench testing for the company.

I also reported it to the helpline. Speaking to them and people from other offices I think it is now acknowledged to be a national problem that they are investigating. Highly unlikely a reboot would do anything - it may APPEAR to work better afterwards as the problem seems intermittent.

Funny how I had not seen the problem in any office I had been installing the new software in until two weeks ago. Is it just my imagination or is that about the time they went back to 'lite' address checker? [And why did they ever re-release that full address checking without getting it working properly; why did it never find a business reply address?]

Things like reversals, report printing and rolling over are so much quicker that it's a shame that the other areas have been so poorly thought out/tested.

No not your imagination, it was definitely about then.

A lot of the new system is terrific, but a lot of it appears to have been thought out poorly, and if you have big fingers like me, the keyboard is hard work, and the screen is forever picking up the wrong buttons! Why did they put the Logout button in amongst a whole load of other buttons? I am forever accidentally starting to log out instead of getting a receipt or moving from Front to Back Office etc. I like the fact that a reboot only takes 6-7 minutes, and we don't need the PMMC, at my previous office a full reboot could take anything up to 45 minutes because of the number of terminals, which was always game for a laugh! I agree with everyone else about the cash decs, it takes me forever now, as I always forget to TAB instead of Enter! If I could change 1 thing it would be that.

For me, the worst thing is having tab right next to escape on those very tiny keyboards of ours. The amount of times when I accidentally escaped my cash/stamp dec or some other kind of data entry makes it the most annoying part of the new horizon.

Anyone else realize why the address verify doesn't work?
This happens on ALL previous items such as specials, recorded, returns, standards etc. that used to verify correctly.

To cut down on serving times is my guess. :whistle

I thought I'd try it with a special that the manager wanted me to send, so I entered it as The White House, Washington D.C.
No query from Horizon online.

Although on every receipt now, it clearly states 'address verified - N'

Does this not give the customer aggro when they try to claim for a late special?

A few eagle eyed customers have asked my this as they look at their receipt, knowing full well that it was verified before. :hmmmm

So I tell them, "It's so the computer doesn't have to look for it in case its a Unit on an estate etc. I get rid of you quicker that way." They seem happy enough with this answer. They don't like to be bullshitted round these parts.
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.
