exactly that would keep up the pressure on them. Is it even a sign they are cracking if ACAS called the meeting? They'd shoot themselves in the foot if they didn't go along.,strangler wrote:The strikes previously announced are still going ahead despite the talks tomorrow.
I can`t see any reason why the union shouldn`t announce the next batch of strikes in the meantime.
I think they are feeling the heat, this week management have gotten tougher in our office and nastier, so that is a good sign that we must be doing something right.

dont want to sound cynical, but rm's tactics have been consistent. First they ignore you, then they delay ia announcement with 'phantom" talks. For our ceo and chairman this dispute is simply a game of chess.They want to spread confusion,undermine our resolve:they raise expectations,then dash your hopes. Its all strategy to wear us down bit by bit but it only works if you let it. I hope that the cwu whilst attending talks will give rm a dose of its own medicine and pre announce further strike dates i.e. ignore them until the moneys in our pockets and our quality of life and standard of living are IMPROVED Mr layiton Icould save you money. Sell your exercise treadmill,i know of 2oo,ooo,ooo items of post you could deliver.

This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

All we need to do is work your contracted hours, the backlog will still be there......JUST CUT OFF (work to rule)dogfood wrote:The Union need to give RM 7 days notice of strike action, therefore unless the union announce further strike action for next week immediatley there will be a break in the rolling strikes, which will provide RM the chance to clear the backlog. Effectively undoing the benefits of the last 2 weeks action. So come union announce more rolling strikes for next week NOW.

If the talks about talking are tomorrow, and nothing happens (highly likely) it'll still be Thursday. So the union will still be able to give 7 days notice of more industrial action. We can't stop now. Don't give Royal Mule the chance to use delaying tactics.

no surrender
one thing that this union is so far getting wrong is that the minute RM say they will talk the strikes get cancelled.
only for them to come to the table and talk absolute bull, knowing that they have mucked us about and got away with it
I say talk is great, but until we get a settlement carry on with the strikes and planned strikes as if they were not talking.
Once we get somewhere then cancel them
Now get to the meeting and tell them to :cfo with their bright ideas where they end up on their arses with big bonuses and we do all the work for s**t wages.

RULE BRITAINNIA!!!
RULE THE POSTIES, THE POSTIES RULE THE COBBLES.... posties never never never shall be slaves....

Thus far then we have travelled along the terrible road we chose at the call of duty. The mood of Britain is wisely rightly averse from every form of shallow or premature exultation. This is not time for boasts or idle prophecies, but there is this: A few months ago our position looked forelorn, and well nigh desperate to all eyes but our own. To-day we may say aloud before an awe struck world " WE ARE STILL THE MASTERS OF OUR FATE, WE ARE CAPTAINS OF OUR SOULS."
