Scottish Region Royal Mail Drivers
GOLDEN RULES
All Royal Mail Drivers are required to observe and follow the Golden Rules listed below.
1. I will always sign for vehicle keys recording times of collection and return.
2. I will complete a thorough vehicle check prior to leaving the Royal Mail yard.
3. I will tick the appropriate vehicle check box and fully complete the log book.
4. I will record any vehicle defects on a PMT1 and in the vehicle log book and inform my line manager of the defect at the earliest opportunity.
5. I will adhere to the yard speed limit and safety instructions of any site that I visit in the course of my duty.
6. I will drive in a courteous manner and respect other road users and report any traffic collisions or incidents immediately to my line manager on return to my unit.
7. I will inform my line manager immediately I am charged or receive any endorsable driving offence (Whilst driving a private or Royal Mail vehicle).
8. I will notify my line manager of any Police or VOSA stops or penalty charge notice received (parking ticket) whilst driving a Royal Mail vehicle.
9. I will wear high visibility jackets in designated areas.
10. I will wear protective footwear at all times in designated areas.
11. I'll always wear my seatbelt. No exemptions apply to this rule.
12. I'll not use a mobile phone when driving.
13. I'll not smoke in any Royal Mail vehicle.
14. I confirm that I have an up to date Drivers Manual in my possession.
15. I have read and understood the Security Rules for drivers.
16. I will adhere to speed limits and obey all road signs whilst on the public highway.
