I doubt it will ever be a level playing field for us, because PostComm are industrial bullies placing "financial handcuffs" on RM, by not allowing us to charge competitors what we feel is right for using our delivery service.

In my opinion, and many others i'd imagine!, it's not financially viable for TNT, DHL .. et al, to purse the last mile delivery. This is why they don't, and probably won't, build up their own infrastructure and continue to saturate our service, with our mail we once had, for a price that's not even agreed by us, just enforced on us by Postcomm.

What kind of Industrial mentality is letting TNT and other competitors use our Yorkies, trays etc .. in order to steal our contracts, and transport what was our mail, through our network and deceive the customer into believing they are a "beginning to end" mail service. This is like having a joiner coming to work on your home saying "can i borrow your saw / hammer / drill".

Right tools for the job .. and i don't mean the 2 tools in charge of RM!!

Postcomm state that they are there to protect the USO, but their actions and horribly under-estimated view of the impact by competition has made a complete ARSE of the british postal industry. TNT (who brag they are the leading challenger to RM) have also under-estimated what their undercutting, and seemingly endless reliance on downstream access has created. Add to that the massive under investment pre-competition by the Government and this is the situation we now find oursleves in. I don't really blame postcomm, and I don't really blame TNT either, and I must admit the present RM management although not ideal have little to do with where we are either. It is the bloody Government who opened up our market, knowing fine well that we would never be able to cope with their years of neglect. It is the bloody Government who allowed RM to take the 'pension holidays'. Lastly, (and this is what really pisses me off) it is the LABOUR government who has done it all, the one our own union fund year after year. When are our union going to withdraw their support for a party who quite frankly has shat all over us and caused all this???

And the alternative is......................?

These are the circumstances we find ourselves in, everyone involved would probably do things differently given the chance. You mustn't forget that the workforce has also been complacent by not adhering to the work plan and cutting corners to finish early or book ghost - it's so easy to point the finger - finding a solution is much more difficult.
