We do have the power , Yahoorsur. No postal workers working = No service = in effect , a business in name only.Yahoorsur wrote:As i said earlier, this could be it.
According to some sources,Manson (RM Sector Manager) was pulling his hair out of his head in anger, the reason being that Royal Mail will get fined for unofficial action affecting the quality of service, when they wont get done for official action, anyway it's all out of our hands things should happen one way or another in the next few minutes,oh to be a fly on the wall at Edinburgh airport.
,What this does show is that a lot of our colleagues in Glasgow are ready willing and able to bring the mail system to a halt, and if that is reflected in the rest of Royal Mail then we should win this and if any pickets arrive at Dunfy D.O the morra here's one postie who wont be crossing no line, official or unofficial. And once again I dont give a flying Feck if RM Dum's are looking on this forum.

I arrived at Edinburgh Mail Centre tonight and was caught a bit by surprise by the picket line. They asked me not to cross and despite threats from managers about it being unofficial and having my pay docked I stepped out of my van and handed a manager my keys. I've never experienced valet parking before and I suppose it was a bit like that. Twenty minutes later it was brought back. Should I have tipped him? Maybe tomorrow.
Anyway, they can dock my pay if they want, I don't give a s**t as I never liked the idea of crossing lines just because it wasn't your strike day. But let this be a message to them that if they are going to victimize people then this is what they will have to expect. Let's stick together.
Solidarity brothers and sisters.

When I saw the plan for splitting the strikes the first thing I asked was about crossing the picket line. I felt that it was a sure fire way to bring about the situation being described here. There was clear instructions from HQ that people should cross the line until such time as their action began - which is all well and good - but it is difficult to break the habits of a lifetime.
I worked for the ESI during the seventies and there always seemed to be a picket out somewhere - I would never cross the line unless it was a matter of safety. Like a lot of things that have changed over the years, strikes then were immediate and global and a resolution seemed to be reached much quicker as everything stood still.
This could be the beginning of the domino effect and if it is we should see a swift response from Royal Mail. This single day action hasn't really had that much of an impact.

Sorry Yahoorsur, I don't know any more than what's already been said on here. All I can tell you is that the Mail Centre is like a morgue and most of the lorries I saw were being driven by managers.Yahoorsur wrote:Nice one RowdyRowdy wrote:I arrived at Edinburgh Mail Centre tonight and was caught a bit by surprise by the picket line. Johnstone and Paisley are still out mate also heard inverclyde were out. I never went to Glasgow this morning as it would have been pointless driving up and back only to be told i was losing a days payee for not crossing the lineFraz118 wrote:I'm just wondering if they is anymore offices that have walked out unoffically. I am a postie in motherwell and we agreed to go back to work today but in the last 45mins we have walked out again cause the managers have sent a driver home who refused to cross the glasgow picket.
