SCOTLAND THE BRAVE

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Hark when the night is falling
Strike ! Strike the posties are calling,
Loudly and proudly calling,
Down thro' the glen.
There where the hills are sleeping,
Now feel the blood a-leaping,
High as the spirits
of the old Post men.

Chorus
Towering in gallant fame,
Scotland my mountain hame,
High may your proud
standards gloriously wave,
Land of my high endeavour,
Land of the shining river,
Land of my heart for ever,
Scotland the brave.

High in the misty Highlands,
Out by the purple islands,
Brave are the hearts that beat
Beneath Scottish skies.
Wild are the winds to meet you,
Staunch are the friends that greet you,
Kind as the love that shines
from fair maidens' eyes.

Far off in sunlit places,
Sad are the Scottish faces,
Yearning to feel the kiss
Of sweet Scottish rain.
Where tropic skies are beaming,
Love sets the heart a-dreaming,
Longing and dreaming for the homeland again.

Apologies for the changes but I think it reflects the Scotish Posties true grit.

[/colorRE Manager & innapprporiate remarks to BBC article 2001 ]Nowadays to protect the manager RM would have said that THE 16yr OLD GIRL made the inappropriate remarks to the manager , all these "witnesses " comprised of mgrs / favoured sons/non-union would all just have to been in the vicinity , all swearing blind what had "happened" . There would would be the " fact finding investigations " and she would have been sacked for abusive behaviour towards? . Unless the girl put in a B&H to Personnel , the manager may ? get a reprimand ! to impress the EOC , or she'd get sacked for a claim in bad faith?,The manager would not be moved , that's for sure! :lfo :lfo :cfo

The thing is if the MC goes back to work and deliveries dont how long will it be before we are out again as drivers will have to cross picket lines...official or unofficial !

Support is patchy at the moment, at our union meeting at 13.00 the count was 26 offices out on unofficial action. I myself went to Glasgow mail centre this morning at 05.00 and refused to cross their line- Glasgow had walked out in support of four of there drivers who would not cross the official picket line at Edinburgh airport- On return to my DO I boxed in the mail that was there and was then sent out on parcels only to be told on return that I would be losing a day’s payee for taking unofficial action, thankfully my colleges backed me. But we have offices as close as 10 miles away which are working as normal (as they crossed Glasgow lines). It’s pretty much certain it will be the same story on Wed morning but I don’t see what it will achieve unless everyone is together, it may turn offices against each other. I don’t think the striking on different days was a great idea as there was always going to be drivers not wanting to cross each others lines hence my post last week looking for clarification http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/forum/vi ... php?t=2917
The way it stands just now 26 offices will lose three days payee this week while most lose one. If the union wants us all out lets get all out – BUT TOGETHER AND OFFICIAL

Scottish unoffical action

Union reps cannot suggest what to do all the members must decide as a unit what the next steps are . :cfo :lfo
