I think quite a few are waiting with bated breath for the financial statement.

I get a whiff of the "losing a million a day" accounting system here - why else would it have taken so long to get the statement out. It hasn't for the last two years.

I don't think there is any doubt that privatisation is definitely the end product for Leighton and his cronies - anyone remember the song from Oliver "Who will Buy" - and the answer is plenty of people - they aren't interested in Royal Mail as a distributor of mail - no they are interested in the assets - I'm afraid we are in deep doo doo.

Our one hope is if the Government takes an interest and gets involved.

Would not expect much with these Tories in power. (yes that as a deliberate mistake)

I WONDER WHO FED HIM HIS INFORMATION......

Post by rhino49 »

..... because he didn't work for it. The lovely shiny machines HE SAW at our competitors plants can churn out computer labelled pop3 and C5 envelopes 'til the cows come home because that is all the corporate posters use. They don't have a manpower problem because they can't handle anything that needs manpower or has spindly handwriting or missing postcodes or misspelt addresses - they do send out bills with "gone away" in the address line because I sent one back with that hand written on it when the resident had left 6 months before! I wonder whether they can handle incoming mail from a diverse public or do they only do pre-counted bundles in blocks of one thousand. Sorry Mrs Jones you will have to give us another 997 cards all the same size or we can't handle them for you - oh and we don't have a delivery date system - they'll go when it's convenient!

The dreaded email system that we are supposed to fear so much is now so spam ridden and filtered that it stands more chance of losing mail than a blind casual. It only works well on intranet systems like RM's and that is so censored as to be Orwellian.

Where the internet has helped is a monumental rise in our small packet business - another area that the competition is loathe to touch because it requires effort and a good local knowledge to deliver safely, not left on doorsteps, under cars or in the completely wrong area as some carriers do.

If you want to make a real comparison of what the respective businesses are capable of, and by the way there is nothing we at Royal Mail can't do, then get off your shiny arse and do some real investigating - then maybe I'll buy your paper along with the few thousand other misinformed and totally unaware self righteous prats who currently read it - take a tip, get out there like Paul Routledge and Clinton Manning at the Mirror and learn about your subject before committing your lack of credibility to newsprint.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

I can't say I blame some criticism for this Government but I would much prefer New Labour to Old Tory any day. How long do you think Royal Mail would last if after the next election the Conservatives formed the next government? Not long. You see with a labour government you have supportive MPs who are actually in power and not forming the opposition for eighteen years.

Labour have been in power for 10 years and long may it reign, because I wouldn't want to go back to a Tory led nation.

Looking at it realistically there isn't an alternative to the two main parties. I defy anyone to name a current political party capable of forming an alternative government in the next 25 years.

UKIP the way things are going. But that would be nearly as scary as BNP. However, if the left got it together under 1 banner then I think they would have a half decent chance.
