I'm from London too Yahoorsur. Housing in London is expensive. Even a small flat in a cheap are will cost over Â£150, 000. A house in London will cost over Â£250,000 minimum. It is extremely for a postal worker to buy a property here. And rents are high too, a two bedroom flat will cost upwards of Â£180 pw, and a house upwards of Â£300 pw. Local Authority or Housing Association rents are a bit cheaper if you can get one. Most of the younger people at work who are just getting on to the property ladder usually have to move out to Essex, Kent or Herts where housing is a bit cheaper. Of course they then have to spend a lot of money (and time) commuting into London. But there are a lot of people who have to rely on SA/ED to make ends meet, and that is rapidly disappearing. That's why there is strong support for the strikes here.

,once again mucho respect to you lads and lassess in London,theres a whole thread in here about 'affordable housing' My step daughter is just turned 16,how the feck is she ever gonna afford to pay a mortgage based on the prices that were in the Dunfy Press yesterday?,how the feck are our sons and daughters goona find a place to live????

You're right. It's not just in London that housing is unaffordable for low paid workers.
I always feel a bit p****d off when the media goes on about 'key workers' meaning police, firefighters, and teachers, being unable to afford housing. What about postalworkers, refuse workers, busdrivers, shopstaff, and everyone else who is on a low wage. Aren't we key to running a civilized society too?
