They've never had your interests at heart, from the general strike to today they've sold the workers down the river time after time.
i'm in total agreement spartacus, past labour governments have used the army to break strikes and even in opposition theyve been scathing of the workers when we take matters into our own hands, from the very outset they only offered a token gesture of support and represented a means of directing our struggle down parliamentary lines.
I've voted twice and i dont plan to do it again, i'm utterly disillusioned with parliamentary democracy and i wont be swayed by any gimics by those who want to resuscitate what is little more than a mockery of a democracy, the old phrase "it doesnt matter who you vote for the government always get in" is all the more resonant since Labour carried on Thatchers legacy.

When the conservatives first got into power, i was an apprentice welder and I remember the senior management at the company where i worked having a champagne party, under the tories the rich got richer, ive always voted Labour, since i started work, and it goes against everything my dad ever told me about workers rights, but i cant ever vote Labour again, dont know who i will vote for, they all want to screw us, but Blair and his scumbag goverment have stabbed us in the back, they took a million quid a year off us to help them get into power, and from the start they were after us...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

I would vote Labour if they had any Socialist values left.
They say it themselves, New Labour, not Old Labour.
For many years I have voted LibDem, to many a wasted vote. In some areas we have pushed the Tories into third place and even Labour into second place.
The actual number of votes for the Libdems is growing all the time and is only held back by the voting system itsself.
A PR system would rectify a lot of the inequalities.
Just go look at their proposals ( dreams even )

For the last 15+ years I have only voted labour 2 or 3 times. I have voted in every election (general, eurpoean, local etc)
The next election I don't know how I'll vote (liberal / green / independant).
I may just deliberately spoil the ballot paper. At least I will have had my say (no candidates good enough)

That's true, never trust anyone who seeks power. The only thing guaranteed is that they will be self serving parasites.Alao those who who claim they can work within the system to change things will eventually be changed by the system.I include our trade union leaders in that.

Ive voted libdems on two occassions, as the best of a bad bunch, however i think the only reason some people turn to the lib dems when they realise that labour and tory are both parties of the establishment is because none of us can remember what a liberal government is like. I have no doubt that were the libdems to ever come to power they would pursue pro-business policies at the expense of the poor, that is the nature of government and even the benevolent murmurings of the libdems will not change that one iota. I think that the time is very much upon us when we will really have to lose all illusions associated with parliament as a vehicle for progressive working class change, we shouldve done it long ago, when we take the initiative ourselves and organise as a class outside of ruling class avenues and institutions then we will realise just how much strentgh we have.
