Atos advice needed

had an operation in march and was signed off by the surgeon for 7 weeks
atos rang me in the second week ,and after my phone consultation ,she told me i could return to work the next day and would inform my d.o.m !!!

i politly told her to f**k off ....to which she replied "i will have to report this to your manager"

"don't care if you tell the f**ckin queen" was my reply

put the phone down and never heard anymore from them !!

Atos use a PC program called Lima (Logic Integrated Medical Assessment) to assess you, this program has had some bad press.
They use it in all their work for DWP , RM etc. Also I think why people have had so much problems with Atos.


Computer led nurses will be no ordinary nurses, they will in fact be from Atos Origin's own pool of existing occupational health nurses. In other words, they will be full-time employees whose loyalties are entirely to Atos and who are accustomed to working towards getting employees of large corporations back to work

Personally, I would respond to ATOS. given the length of time you have already been absent and looking at the time you may still be absent, they may be looking to retire you on ILL Health Grounds--do not know if you would be intereseted in but worthwhile thinking about. If you do not respond in 7 days, your DOM has to make a new referral, and as each one costs money, do not think he will be best pleased if you dont play ball. good luck with your health problems..

Still think you would be better to fill in the forms. ATOS are always brought in, and the sooner you get it over with the better! In the old days you would have seen the Company Doc--ATOS are their replacements. Will have to check out what the consequences would be if you fail to comply with a 'reasonable request'--

fill in the forms, all they are going to do is speak to you on the phone, even if they say you are fit for work, your doctor says u aren't. Doctors word it is!

Hi, chuckychucks--so I take it you are not intereseted in IHR? Maybe if you get your dealings with ATOS out of the way (and they may just agree that if you can go back on a van duty, then you are fit for work ) R/M will then have to consider
giving you back a duty you feel comfy with. Either way, the prblem won't just go away, so bqack to the original question, still feel you'd be better filling in the forms. but best of luck anyway.

First of all: When you get the forms asking for consent. That means that a referral has already been requested (for which RM pay a fee), and they're just asking for your consent to actually turn up. So they'll probably hold a refusal against you, even though it's immoral to do so.

Secondly: It's possible for you to INSIST on seeing a fully qualified ATOS Doctor. I only found this out fairly recently, and my experience of ATOS has changed completely, since I started doing this. Obviously, they're still biased towards getting you back to work ASAP, or retiring you on health grounds. But because they're properly qualified, they aren't likley to send you back too early, causing a second sick absence. And far more importantly in my experience, they can sometimes suggest alternative treatments for you to suggest to your own Doctor.

Your DOM won't like you insisting on seeing a proper Doctor, because ATOS have very few of them left. So there's often a much longer wait to get a face to face appointment. And it also costs RM more money, because it costs more for ATOS to provide a Doctor's appointment. But that's their hard luck. Your health is more impoirtant than their budget. Never let them tell you any different!

Now i'm being harrased with letters for these Atos w***ers again, so please understand why i am not so keen to fill the forms in, they where not on my side back in 2004 at my first face to face interview and i'm damn sure it will be the same this time too.

I will probably fall under DDA because this is an ongoing complaint but Royal Mail made this rod for my back by changing my delivery when it had worked just fine for me since 2004.
As for the DDA thing, this is the way i see it playing out...

they seem all concerned about my condition and deem that i am covered under DDAAtos are very reluctant to say your DDA even if you are
we can ask your DOM what reasonable adjustments can be madeThey won`t do that as DOM`s are not medically trained even though most think they are Dr.Kildare.Atos are the ones to set the ball rolling regarding adjustments.
dom says we can' make any adjustments, it's not practicalHa Ha yeah your right there pal.
i ask to be transfered to another office, say RLC or Mail CenterAs an aside unless your RLC or mailcentre is nearer then you should be found a job in your own office and is one of the things that I`m taking these clowns to court over.
ok we will explore all other options say Royal Mail and Atosyeah correct!
For the next week or two i hear nothing and Royal Mail and Atos scratch their plums to give me the impression they are trying to find something for me
I get a letter to go for another interview only to be told that there is nothing available to me in any other office (thats a surprise)
I then get offered ill health retirement with lump sum and no pension (this option is a lot of good for someone with a mortgage)Yeah it does suck big time and is one that they nearly always try and shove onto you instead of making a resonable adjustment in your workplace.You then have to try and find another job but if your ill you are placed on ESA and made to have a medical with Atossers doing the medical,they will then find you fit to do ANY work and make you go onto Jobseekers.My advice to anybody who leaves on medical health these days is either make sure you`ve something else lined up or have enough savings before hand as the pittance you get for ill health won`t last that long.

They may as well say thanks for your 17 years service, now that you have got a disability we no longer want you..now F**K OFF!!!!

Not neccessarily. The ATOS Doctor that I saw last time, CONFIRMED that I was covered by the DDA, and included it in his report. This is what's so important about insisting on a properly qualified ATOS Doctor! It's not common knowledge that you can do this. I only found out fairly recently myself. But it's also why I'm making such a point of telling you all. Knowledge is power. And when your health is on the line, it's not worth taking any chances.

If there's something seriosly wrong with you, INSIST on seeing a proper ATOS Doctor, PLEASE!

It's not really worth all the hassle, if it's just a minor illness. Because, believe me. Your Manager won't be pleased that your not following their normal procedure, and costing them more money. But when it's something which could affect you long term, it's worth the hassle, for the piece of mind.
