Sunblock please boss!

As we are now going to be expected to be out on delivery for 4 hours in the hottest parts of the day, is it not time that Royal Mail supplied sunblock? Last year I asked my line manager about this and he gave some cock and bull story about skin reactions!

We asked when SDD came in only to be told that we might be allergic to it, like plasters. Of course only being RM serfs we are too stupid to know that we are allergic to things

We get suncream supplied in our office.............factor 30 or factor 12, depending on your skin type!

I seem to recall reading somewhere that we will not be allocated suncream as was first proposed. Something to do with health and safety because if you get skin cancer (or some other sun related illness) you could in theory sue RM?

Could be wrong as my memory isnt working properly as my brain has been baked in the sun all day

Perhaps in light of the proposed introductions of 6 hr deliveries our union could press for a weekly sun block allowance , non pensionable of course , and across the board to MC workers as well

Royal Mail bosses have stopped supplying postmen with sun cream - for fear the company could be sued if staff fail to use it and develop skin cancer.
Norwich staff have been given factor-15 lotion for their rounds over the past two summers but company lawyers have called a halt.
Melly Hill, of the Communication Workers Union, said: 'The legal people looked at it and said that if Royal Mail provided sun cream and then people didn't use it and got skin cancer then they would be liable.'
Royal Mail, which recently began issuing postal workers with water bottles to help them stay hydrated, said today: 'We provide a full range of clothing including hats that offers protection against the elements.'
But one Norwich postman said: 'It's totally ridiculous to expect us to cover up in this weather. It's a wonder that none of use have fainted yet on our rounds.'

We all know that RM will buy the cheapest crap they can so with that in mind - why wouldn't you just buy your own quality product and use that?

I personally use a factor 50 spray that absorbs quickly.

As a supplementary question brother fishtank do all your DO vehicles including any hired vehicles used in the workplace for delivery purposes have the necessary no smoking signage in them and if not why not!
