pensions for part timers

Hi I,m new to this site & Am just starting a new part time job as a OPG Twickenham DO ,25 hrs / wk. my local postman tells me ,as a part timer I am not entitled to the royal mail pension plan, nor sick pay as I am part time. But when all my Contract details came through it said that I would be covered for death for the first year & could then join the pension scheme. does anyone know if this is true or is it just a standard leaflet sent out to all. also what are the chances of getting full time employment in the future. many thanks Dean

He may mean you are no longer entitled to join the final salary pension scheme. I am sure someone who knows better will advise you.
You may not be entitled to sick pay during your probationary period. Again - ask someone who knows.
Chances of full-time? Slim. There may be lots of overtime available depending on the office. Being able to drive increases your chances especially if your office hasn't yet introduced shared vans.

You will be able to join the new pension scheme. It is run by Zurich. You should get details from RM or you could call personnel.

You can't join the pension scheme or clam sick pay until you have worked for the company for a full year..
