From PTP to PTC

To all the people on my walk (9 years as a postman - Bexley, Kent) I was known as Pete the postie. I enjoyed serving the public and was generally highly thought of amongst them. A combination of lengthy sicks (broken ankle at work and a stress-related 'mental' problem that is OK now I'm on tablets) and bad luck has resulted in me triggering a stage 3, getting eight weeks notice and finally losing my appeal a couple of weeks ago.

At 57 and with a dodgy left knee (found to be torn medial ligaments following a fall at work three months earlier - accident report not completed properly by my DOM, a fact that was discovered during my Stage 3 interview because it wasn't on my sickness record) I am well out of it. OK, I was still waiting for a date for the MRI scan, a fact they knew because I was on light duties (and that only because I went sick again due to there being no light duties available - yet they miraculously appeared when I was signed off so was asked to get signed back on again) but they still gave me my notice before I even had a date for the scan. I was sure I would win the appeal due to those results but I guess their mind was already made up; after all, had I won the appeal I would have been eligible for the £1400 and even if someone was recruited in my place that person won't qualify for it. Still, I reckon if I hadn't been pushed I would never have jumped and I had had enough of climbing the Bexly alps!

I have bought a van and am now Pete the courier so I guess I am now a competitor!

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
