incomplete address when it IS complete!!

Post by h1n9s18 »

hello..

im new here and would just like to enquire if it is possible to claim back my postage fees of approx gbp13 from RM.

i sent out a package for my friend in the usa on the 27th march and this morning i got a knock on the door and my package is returned back to me. there was a sticker on it claiming that the mail cannot be delivered because of incomplete address?

i have sent numerous packages to the same address and it always arrived to her end..whats wrong with this one?

now i have to send the same package again and incur the same costs twice which i definitely dont want to.

could anybody advised me on what to do? i really do not want to pay another gbp13 on postage.. :cry

Isn't it more likely that the US postal service have declared the address incomplete and therefore not really in my opinion anything to do with RM. :hmmmm

isthe sticker advising you its undeliverable like this

Image or similar

or a yellow sticker. If its a yellow one which I suspect then Royal Mail have nothing to do with being unable to deliver it - USPS has refused it.

Best to check with the USPS, their website probably having guidance on what it is necessary to include in addresses over there - and the fact that previous ones have been delivered doesn't prove it was correct, we often managing to deliver incompletely addressed items sometimes with difficulty.

Well if it's that sticker in the pic then it did not leave the country, that is our sticker we use when we have to send stuff back, that is not a USPS sticker.

This is confusing, are you able to tell us the address that you sent it to.It looks to me that you have completly messed up the address, and was sent to an area in the uk with a similar post code, although the yanks don't use post codes!

Another puzzleing thing is,why would it take so long to get back to you if it was an incomplete address.

I think we need the address, you can PM it to me if you want.

EDIT:Also a pic if you can.

It is possible the RM sticker was simply put on by your own postman before he brought it back for you.
I would check the parcel again for a USPS sticker maybe underneath the red one. :hmmmm

I presume you sent it from the UK to the USA?

I agree that it probably never left the country and the only reasons I would give for that would be ...
* the country was not specified.
* the address was similar to a uk address, e.g. 123 Oxford Street West, London, Ontario.
