Remember how last year the Communication Workers Union threatened to withdraw its £1 million contribution to Labour unless the Government dropped plans to part-privatise the Royal Mail?

Lo and behold, as the BBC's Robert Peston has spotted, the measure has been dropped from Labour's manifesto, as page six of chapter two states:

"The Royal Mail and is staff are taking welcome and needed steps to modernise work practices. For the future, continuing modernisation and investment will be needed by the Royal Mail in the public sector."

How much else of the manifesto has been negotiated by the unions in return for keeping the party afloat?

However I already did a search for Q1 - Q4 2009

I ceased to be a political officer 17 days ago, however there is no LTB that I can see on this subject.

In fact I do not hold any CWU credentials at all right now

Nothing really

I chose not to put in for Political Officer this year, another D.O rep has taken that on.

The job can be much more than the rule book but that would require release, the only release is branch comitte meetings. No release for the actual PO work.

For local rep, I wasnt going to carry on with it this year but changed my mind after heraing the proposed agreement explained in depth from the PEC mbr thats from my branch. Just not the right time to be standing down , when there is no one else wanting to take on the role.

Nominations for local rep closed for the 2nd time on Friday, but I missed the deadline as I never remember to sort one out

Carrying on with the role on auto pilot at the moment as it just day to day stuff rather than making agreements and the DOM has been on leave, which would be subjected to a request for a mandate from the mbrs given what the DOM wants/needs to achive. Will get a form sent to the branch office this week.
