They sign in seperately from us, but they do have to sign in.

Re: managers signing in and out....
I seriously doubt that you'd be able to get them to sign in, on the same sheet as you. But if they're not signing in at all, then it's definately a H&S issue. Ours sign in at Reception. The file is kept next to the one for visitors. Admittedly I don't work in a DO. But even if you don't have anyone on Reception. There's nothing stopping them having a signing in sheet elsewhere. Without it, there's no record of which Managers are in the building. So it would be difficult to tell if one of them was trapped, if there was a fire.

I may be wrong but the way our managers enter the floor being not the most direct route from the 1 and only outside entrance, I think they sign in on the DOMs desk. I am guessing the DOMs contact their managers to confirm their arrival at work.

Just so long as they sign in somewhere. Realmichael, are you certain that they aren't signing in anywhere?

Re: managers signing in and out....
as a h&s issue why should not everyone in the building sign in on the same sheet to simplyfy matters in case of fire etc....
ours now sign in on their own sheet since i flagged it up
but i would love to see them on our signing in sheet

Re: managers signing in and out....
It's just a matter of who checks them in the event of a fire. The Managers check our sheets, to make sure that we're all at the assembly point. But someone else checks that all the Managers are out. I suppose, if you're in a small DO, you might just have one assembly point, so it wouldn't be a problem. But in bigger DOs, MCs, etc., we have 2 or more, so a separate sheet is needed to go round checking for Managers. Otherwise, it would take too long to check each group.

Re: managers signing in and out....
At a team brief in our office our line manager emphasised the importance of signing in,but when quizzed if they signed in she stated that they didnt have to coz all the linos vouched for each others presence.Signing out was also omitted which gave them a great smokescreen for their pre 10 a.m.finish.Who needs a 1 in 4 Sat off when you can get away at 9.45.
