hello from a local government worker

Post by Steven »

alright all, London borough local government admin worker and Unison member here.

I'm involved in our current pay dispute which is similar to postal workers one, we've been offered a pathetic 2%, when the cost of living's increasing by 4.5%

I think if we all stick together we have a better chance of winning.

I also help out with this workers resource website http://libcom.org/ - we cover workers news in royal mail ( http://libcom.org/tags/royal-mail ) and many others.

i look forward to learning more from this place, especially as you guys' fight has come up a fair bit at my work.

No doubt about it comrade. My wife is a Unison member. Welcome mate.

Yeah true.

Thanks for the welcome, this seems like a great site, stuff like this I think is really important, being able to communicate between different groups of workers directly, rather than just through the unions. Well done to whoever set it up!

Well done postman! I'm looking forward to seeing how these, work, how influential/big they get.

This forum looks like it runs of PHPBB software, libcom's old forums ran off that, and we got taken down by an Islamist hacker. If these strikes go on it's possible that this site could be a target for hackers from far right/bnp/pro-employer types, so i hope regular upgrades and backups are being done... some of the more techy people from our site may be able to offer any advice/assistance if it was needed, just drop me a private message or something if needed.

all the best!
