hp day
sorry lads have to disagree, Harry Potter is a brilliant opportunity for us to give Royal Mail lots of notice that if they dont come to the table we will be on the streets.

At the same time there should be a press release telling the public that we have tried everythin to get RM to talk to us properly and hope that this time they have the sense to come to the table and resolve this action before it has to happen

In other words, let the public know that if the book doesnt arrive its because of RMs stubborn attitude and not the unions
Wise words mate.

Call a strike for HP day then you could always call it off. GREAT PUBLICITY /GOOD PR / RM MADE TO LOOK CRAP :nana :nana :nana

Good point + Monday-Friday(dont think postcom will allow that) would be a decent job then.......But of course it would mean no need for the reserves to cover the rolling days off,so are we prepared to sacrifice our work buddies so we can have a Monday to Friday job and of course it would also answer the RM claim of 40,000 cut in the workforce, the money they would save by no Saturday working would be a fortune....

interesting thought i would welcome it. it would get rid of the newbie strike breakers who cross the picket line. unfortunately i did not go on the line today. rep said on thursday she had fresh faces. still only 20 t0 30 percent go out at our office. screws just don't take this seriously. we should up the anti and go for an all out.
floating postie.

Agree with striking on HP Day - or at least threatening to strike - we should ignore RMs plea not to strike merely on principle - it makes it look like we are desperate to appease them - make a big show of strike action, demanding RM negotiate when they refuse, call it off saying we are on the side of the public and have no wish to punish the customer for their loyalty.

Should also nominate Monday then strike.

It doesn't look like we will be striking on HP day as the union has to give 7 days notice of strike action and they are not meeting to decide the next course of action until next week.

Our branch chair visited the picket line today. Nice to see the top table of area doing the rounds. He told us that RM won't admit it but, the first strike hit them hard. This second day will hit them harder still. A week all out will finish this dispute once and for all

I think we should call a strike day and it will affect online sales of the book Amazon stuck there nose into our dispute it is pay back time to them. Also it will mean more sales in the booksops and decent stores take note W.H. Smith and do the business your on the high st for and not a post office.

Maybe I'm off topic here - 5 out of 160 went in last time - 2 out of 160 this time.

branch official visits

Post by gspot01 »

just to agree with u on the subject of branch officials visiting picket lines, we are a small office with only 15 posties but we had 2 visits from different branch officials during the day. Nice to see that they r not stuck behind desks but actually out there giving us some support. :nana :nana :nana :nana

Looks like today was even more sucessful than last time, lets all stay strong and win this fight.

Judging by the coverage so far it probably wouldn't get a mention.

I like the idea of a Saturday to Monday strike - done right it could be a good PR move saying we are going out for 3 days when in fact it only costs 2.

Spoke to a rep on Saturday who said that the CWU were thinking of having different functions out on different days so that the mail would get stuck betweens shifts.

I think that it works a bit like this - Thursday Mail Center out on strike Mail not going anywhere on Thusday.
Delivey office go out on Friday. Therfore nobody able to deliver mail effected on Thursday. until saturday. Two days effected for the price of one and if you do it over the weekend even more trouble for one days strike.

Not sure if the above makes sense. maybe it will confuse RM
