The public aren't going to care why we're strking if it effects poor little Timmy getting his book on time. All they'll see is their little boy crying and bang goes all reason and rational thought.

still say one dayers are a waste of time if not backed up by other action. so for gods sake don't go running round like headless chickens helping to clear back log. lets have a work by the book week to follow up.

You're right, but we've already got some idiots planning an early start on Saturday. I hope there's tons of mail.

The day after the last strike I threatened the boss with cutting off. Even though he already had something like 20 walks to cover. In the end I didn't have to take those stupidly shaped Virgin Media 2nd class things that day. So long as you stick to your guns you'll be alright. There's no law stating you have to do overtime.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

fantastic......... totally ...

But to add one little thing, looks like the cwu are decidin not to hit on HP day. In my eyes wrong move, biggest stick we have and we should be stirrin it.

I am out here to fight for my job, your job, my family and CWU are worryin about gettin a book delivered, sorry, just been at meeting and totally disagreed with decision. We need to realise we are in a dirty fight and we need to fight dirty

Interesting piece....maybe a bit too hardcore for some to swallow but I like the idea. Don't think it'll work but then again?!
As for Harry Potter, I can see this causing some grief as I'm one for delivering the buggers. So far, the press has been a little one sided (sarcasm intended). It could be an opportunity for the CWU to get the press to report on something they are saying. Then again, as I said in another thread (sorry to repeat myself and also apologies for being more wishy-washy than Charlie Brown!), who's to say it doesn't get reported as a Management victory?

I was under the impression this strike was against what management want to do to us, not the general public. Who are we hitting hard by striking on HP day?
Surely doing so will give management yet another oportunity to appeal to the press that we're unreasonable and selfish.
Yes, we should them hard. But by "them" shouldn't we mean Royal Fail.

I think that using the HP day would turn the public against us. This dispute is being played out in the media and we need the support of the public. We have to play the game like crozier on the news channels playing the nice guy (while he's got £370,000 in his back pocket).

My manger asked us yesterday if anyboby had any issue's with starting later has to let him know in writing. We have pointed out to him that we refused this and the matter has been bounched up to the CWU area. They are starting to try to impose there plans by by-passing the cwu..

We need to continue with the days off and put on the pressure by include a total overtime ban. My office is relient on people coming in on days off and covering walks on O/T. They can't force people to come in or do overtime. Start the backlog of mail and let the managers worry about it. How dare they tell us we can't do a WTR.

I'm off to do my bit on the picket line we didn't have one scab last time I hope that this continue's.

Good luck to all and let's stick together. :wave

sorry lads have to disagree, Harry Potter is a brilliant opportunity for us to give Royal Mail lots of notice that if they dont come to the table we will be on the streets.

At the same time there should be a press release telling the public that we have tried everythin to get RM to talk to us properly and hope that this time they have the sense to come to the table and resolve this action before it has to happen

In other words, let the public know that if the book doesnt arrive its because of RMs stubborn attitude and not the unions
