Putting a claim in against RM

Post by carpathia_kuja »

Whats the best way to put a claim in against RM? I had an accident on delivery days before xmas. I basically slipped on some concrete steps cos of snow/ice and smacked my spine off the corner steps, had to be taken to hospital on a stretcher and the ambulance guy noticed my footwear grip was practically all gone (he said they wear the same as us). The thing is I ordered some new footwear either in november or october and it's not my fault they are taking ages to get here. I've already done my return to work and accident report and they never gave me the option to put a claim in. I've been off this week on holiday but last week I went back for a few days and was doing light duties, but as usual they are trying to rush me right back on delivery on monday coming, Any help will be much appreciated.

go and talk to your union rep and get a claim form from him,
fill it in and send to your area rep, they then pass onto the union solicitor and take it from there or else get a no win no fee solicitor.
also tell your manager that your back is still sore and get him to set you up with some physio to help aid the recovery

Also, get onto Dept Work and Pensions/DSS too. Get a form that asks you if accident was Injury on Duty. Can't remeber what it's called, sorry...Takes a while but I've had 2 agreed to. Gives you more ammunition for AOD if it's agreed. If it's not, you can appeal.

Instruction to Ice Skaters but a fall is a fall and ice is ice - hopefully it may or may not prevent someone from going through the same experience that the OP went through .

http://www.wikihow.com/Fall-and-Recover ... all-on-Ice" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Bend your knees and go into a dip position. If you know you are about to fall just go into a dip position.
5Fall to the side and lean forward as you fall on the ice. This will lower the chances of you getting injured.
6Recover from your fall. Turn over on your hands and knees.
7Take one foot and place it between your hands.
8Take the other foot and place it between your hands. Applying pressure to your toes and Using your toe picks will help you so you won't slide.
9Push yourself up and stand up on the ice.

editTips

Put your hands in your lap when you are on the ground. If you put your hands on the ice another skater could accidentally skate over them.
If other skaters are around, allow them to help in case you do get injured.
Do the skating move you fell on. This will help you get practice and have less fear of falling on that move. Be ready to fall again though.
Further tips, for beginners:
Step 4: If you are losing your balance, don't wave your arms around trying to regain it. Bend your knees, and start going into the dip position. It helps to immediately put your hands on your knees, which prevents you from waving them around and falling backwards on your head or back. It also helps prevent you from instinctively catching yourself with your hand. Often, this simple act will be enough stop you from falling.
Step 5: (A) When you fall to the side, imagine yourself landing right on the side seam of your pants, between the pockets. (Do this even if you're wearing a skirt.) The upper leg bone is the single largest bone in your body and is very strong, and the side of your leg is mostly muscle and connective tissue, which is less prone to injury. (B) As you fall (to the side, of course), raise your arm on the side toward the ice into an 'L' position with your elbow above the shoulder, flattening your hand as you do so. Practice this several times off-ice to get the feel of it. The 'L' shape allows you to catch your upper weight with the entire section of arm from above the elbow down to fingertips. This distributes the impact over a large area, preventing injury (particularly to the wrist). More importantly, it absolutely prevents you from hitting your head on the ice. [Again, try this several times off-ice to get the feel of it, and to understand how it prevents you from hitting your head.]

:Very Happy Bend your knees and go into a dip position? HA. Given the weight we carry, I walk likethat all the time, and of course the weight pulls me to one side anyway, so I should be able to fall(Again) in safety!
Love the last bit, suggesting we practice this---perhaps we could all do this every morning before we leave the office! :wave

you need to see your rep and get a LS3 form from them and fill this out.
Get onto the DSS )or maybe the DWP now) as previously posted in order to get you accident recorded as an industrial accident
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

You can also report this to the Better Business Bureau and they will take affirmative care. Also the other suggestions are good but a lot of times the complaint is ignored.
