THANK YOU

Post by CustomerConnieagain »

Hi, I logged on here regularly during the strikes and generally gave you a hard time. I sit here on December 23rd, having ordered most of my Christmas presents online. Everything sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery (and 1st class come to that) has safely arrived, nothing from Home Delivery Network (ie Amazon & M&S) is here yet and they give you a load of b/s when you speak to them. In fact I've given up on those presents, mainly for my husband and he's pretending to understand. Anyway I wanted to say thanks for your service and sorry because I don't think the strikes got you what you wanted. Sorry to say that we, the 'great' British public, don't appreciate you enough. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, hope 2010 is a better year for you.

You're very welcome Connie - a lot of us understand that a lot of the public don't think of the job beyond the letters landing on their doormat, but I'm sure I can speak for most on here when I say that your comments are very much appreciated, and I hope you'll tell all your friends of your experience, you'll continue to support us and a public mail service, and finally that you & your family will have a very merry Christmas & a happy New Year. :Applause

You are most welcome Connie, but might I suggest that you have a look around your garden for your items travelling via HDS, My daughter ordered items for a holiday to be sent "next day delivery" and when I got home this evening after making sure all my customers got their packets safely, I found them stuffed behind a chimney pot near the front door. A lot of these guys are only paid for what they deliver - I don't suppose it matters where or to who !!!
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

I'm sorry i thought you were a manager previously, but we were under attack from all sides at the time.
I'm glad you now appreciate that Royal Mail can deliver a service which cannot be matched by our so called competitors.
And that is what we were striking to defend. We don't yet know what the result will be.
Did you see the Panorame program on Royal Mail last week?

Baldrick no I didn't see that. That's a big problem for you incidentally - strikes called off, we've forgotten all about Royal Mail unless of course our packages don't arrive (sorry that's awful I know). I didn't even know it was on yet I watched every programme about Royal Mail in the run up to the strikes. I'll see if it's still on BBC IPlayer.

Thanks for saying sorry - you don't need to be. Merry Christmas.

If you have the time it's also worth listening to Roy Mayall's 'A letter to Granny Smith'
which was on BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week last week, and may be on their online
service or I-player.

Sorry, I'm sure radio prgrammes are only held for 7 days after broadcast ( but it might be worth a look - it certainly is worth a listen )
