Could someone help me finding out the truth?

Post by KRL »

Hello!

This is a bad case, when package got lost, most likely stolen, just its absolutely not certain to me about where. I was sending it from Rīga, Latvia, it went, as my Latvian Mail reported after loss, through "Mail exchange place GBLALT in Great Britain on September 2 of 2008 in accordance with international parcel movement plans."

After short googling, I found some document [1], which says, that "GBLALT" is actually "Royal Mail Great Britain" -- I came to the right place, yes?

See, my problem is, that I want to found out if that package was indeed received in Britain. If not -- my postal office has lied to me and is itself responsible for loss... Unfortunately I was busy all of this time, but its important for me to assert. Can you help me?

unless its tracked or recorded in some way mate its impossible to tell where it was lost after you sent it off, they are just passing the blame

Well, but where should I ask, giving package number? Aren't all message sending events in some logs?

you can ask royal mail but i bet they deny ever recieving it, unless it was a tracked or special delivery in which you sent it then there is not much hope of ever finding out where it has actually gone missing.

Start at the beginning your first port of call is your local post office in your country as they should do the leg work you of course posted it the item in good faith it is for your postal service too investigate your loss!.

Should be so, but if they've messed things up themselves, I can never be sure. Well, they've told me its lost in GBLALT and paid a bit for compensation, but too little (box had more valuable electronics in it).

What makes delivery "special" or "tracked"?

So people in here believe, royal mail can't give a clear answer if they received it or no?

Tracking number IE the number the parcel had on it after it was sent!. Royal mail can only confirm delivery not tracking through the system!.

You mean, if it would deliver package by itself in Britain? And in my case, when destination was yet another part of world it can't know? (there is an identification number of parcel my post was referring to)

If you sent it from Latvia to another country (or even somewhere else in Latvia) and it came to the UK in error, or probably even as a regular routeing, then RM would not track it at all. Royal Mail only provide tracking on items within the UK and when paid for. I am pretty sure if it came here accidentally it would have been returned to Latvijas Pasts.

Sigh. If Latvijas Pasts is a liar to me for whatever reason, no way to find out...
