Isn't it Treason?
to "interfere" with the Queen's mail? I remember a postie near Norwich was on the news and got prosecuted for treason, for storing mail at his home. But isn't this EXACTLY what you striking posties are doing??

It's true! he had about 8 sacks of mail in his flat/house. I remember seeing video of him up at the Norwich courthouse. And I remember the treason bit, cos it surprised me at the time.

No it's not treason ffs. I will entertain you though as you are in obvious and dire need of an education.norfolk nelly wrote:It's true! he had about 8 sacks of mail in his flat/house. The Treason Act 1351 has since been amended several times, and currently provides for four categories of treasonable offences, namely:
"when a man doth compass or imagine the death of our lord the King, or of our lady his Queen or of their eldest son and heir";
"if a man do violate the King’s companion, or the King’s eldest daughter unmarried, or the wife of the King’s eldest son and heir";
"if a man do levy war against our lord the King in his realm, or be adherent to the King’s enemies in his realm, giving to them aid and comfort in the realm, or elsewhere"; and
"if a man slea the chancellor, treasurer, or the King’s justices of the one bench or the other, justices in eyre, or justices of assise, and all other justices assigned to hear and determine, being in their places, doing their offices".
It has been asserted that it is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside down. However, the newspaper that made this claim provides no source for this assertion, and none of the various Treason Acts make any mention of postage stamps.Another Act, the Treason Act 1702 (1 Anne stat. 2 c. 21), provides for a fifth category of treason, namely:
"if any person or persons ... shall endeavour to deprive or hinder any person who shall be the next in succession to the crown ... from succeeding after the decease of her Majesty (whom God long preserve) to the imperial crown of this realm and the dominions and territories thereunto belonging".
Now
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Perhaps its was this story from 2 years agonorfolk nelly wrote:to "interfere" with the Queen's mail? I remember a postie near Norwich was on the news and got prosecuted for treason, for storing mail at his home. But isn't this EXACTLY what you striking posties are doing??
However the charge would not have been "Treason" but "wilful delay of mail" which is still a criminal offencePostman who stole mail sent to jail http://www.edp24.co.uk/content/edp24/ne ... 3A55%3A397" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
13 May 2006 11:31 A postman, who stole a number of postal packets to help pay off mounting debts, was yesterday jailed for eight months.
Ian Cushion, 31 who had worked as a postman for more than 12 years, was finally caught out after Royal Mail investigators kept him under surveillance, Norwich Crown Court heard.
Christopher Morgan, prosecuting, said they followed him on his round after seeing him act suspiciously at the Norwich sorting office and found Cushion stopping off at his home while doing his delivery round so he could steal items of post.
When a search was made later of his home, items recovered included phones, watches, books, and jewellery and Playstation games.
Mr Morgan said: “With the Internet supplying items such as these they are regularly sent through the post.”
Cushion also admitted taking cash from cards sent through the post.
Cushion of Heath Road, Norwich, admitted the thefts and estimated that in total he had made about £500 from items he taken over an eight-month period.
He said that he had taken the items because of his debts and could see no way out.
Jailing him Recorder Alistair Wilson told him: “These offences of stealing items from the post are ones which cause the public great concern. They are entitled to expect the Royal Mail to deliver their mail safely.”
He said some of the items taken such as money from cards caused distress.
Andrew Oliver, mitigating said: “He understands the reasons why his case is so serious. It is a breach of trust and also it is mean-spirited and undermines confidence in the Royal Mail by customers.”
He said at the time Cushion had debts including £10,000 on his credit card.
“He did not see a way out. He was finding it harder and harder to make ends meet. He bitterly regrets it.”

Re: Isn't it Treason?
If it is treason, then the whole of the Royal mail management should be hung from the gallows, as they are holding up mail just to get back at the strikers, as they are refusing to pay striking postmen overtime, causing mail to roll over until they can get one or two of their blue eyed boys to go out and deliver it on overtime. If this is not treason then it damn well is victimisation and discrimination in the workplace.
