FROM THE ATHERSTONE RECORDER
TNT workers protest over pay cuts
Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 by Geoff Wilding
HUNDREDS of workers at delivery firm TNT staged a protest rally against pay cuts which union leaders claim are crippling the workforce.
About 400 employees at the parcel delivery company marched through Atherstone Town centre on the 28th of September before demonstrating outside the firm’s head-quarters in Long Street.
Claims were made that full-time staff will losemore than £400 a month which could amount to a reduction of around £5,000 a year from their salary.
Union leaders claim the decision was made in January to reduce pay, but after months of negotia-tions the first cuts only came into force last month. Paul Davies, national officer for Unite, claims the company is ex-ploiting the recession for their own gains – at a huge cost to its workers.
He added:
No workman or woman can afford to lose this much money, it is a massive drop in pay The firm is taking advantage of the current economic climate to justify making pay cuts.

What we havew in store for us mAYBE?

Please don't post with Caps Lock On - it makes it difficult to read and/or lessens the impact of the point you are trying to make.

Its also bad manners in internet forums.

Cheers. :Very Happy

I dont like to see any worker suffer from bullying management.I posted this as it gives a little glimpse of what the future may hold for us with no union (or a side lined one).

Great,

I agree with previous poster in terms of individuals being persecuted by Large Multi million pound companies using pressure tactics to increase profitability. What is required here, is a unity amongst their union members and ensure this escalates both national and international and bring their system to a stand still like we will eventually if this campaign does not receive closure soon..

TNT are an example of how Royal Mail want to run their business, low wages, minimum union disruption leading to total control of staff. Profitability once productivity has found total demise.

The UNITE union, isn't that the same union that represent our managers? Nice to see active support from them recently.

Billy send your organisers down to Atherstone and get them in the CWU, get them on strike and we can get some work back off them, that'll teach 'em.
Please sir can I have more?
