Referendum on Royal Mail

Post by phantomshare »

If as the Tories have openly stated this week, that they will fully privatise Royal Mail if they win the next general election,
Should the general public be given a choice on the issue?
Would they be told the ramifications of privatisation, the likelyhood of increases in cost, the ever later delivery of mail.
These are some of the issues that should be highlighted now, so when certain sections of the media, public and goverment slate us posties as greedy and always obstructing change, they will understand that we are also trying to protect the postal service.
I do want a pay rise, and I think we deserve one after Royal Mail made a profit.
I am not adverse to change, but change should bring reward for the staff who remain, and good terms for those that leave.

You're right, I mean, if Goldman Sachs can freely dish out bonuses in the middle of a recession, nay, a depression then why not Royal Mail. Trouble is, they're determined to crush our will. The public will only see that the Royal Mail are making good financial sense in the 'current climate', yet all the while it's just convenient ploy.

As for full privatisation; no one still yet knows what will happen to the universal service obligation, or USO. Can't see anyone cherry picking that in a hurry.
We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!

It's quite ironic that the Tories want to privatise Royal Mail.

Because if Adam ;liar Crozier is telling the truth :left: , what person in their right mind would buy shares in a company

1. whose volumes and revenues are declining year-on-year by 10%
2. that has a declining share of that declining market, because of unfair competition
3. that has a £10bn pension fund black hole, that will swallow any profit the company does manage to accrue
4. the worst industrial relations in the UK, and
5. an underworked, overpaid man running it ?

I'd like to see Goldman Sachs write the prospectus for THAT privatisation !

How can you make a small fortune owning shares in Royal Mail plc ?
Easy, start off with a large fortune, and put it in these shares !!

1: If Mail volumes are down 10%, but packets are up, how can revenue be down 10%? Another RM lie.
2: 60,000 staff have already been made redundant with 50,000 more to follow if privatisation went ahead. Mail may be falling, but packets )especially from internet sales) are rising sharply - and 50% of the workforce gone inside 10 years means plenty of profit still to be made.
3: The Government will take on the pension
4: Privatisation will mean the Union becomes nigh on powerless.
5: Whoever buys into the company will employ who they want.
