M.E.A.R.S megathread!

Post by will-lost »

Seeing as thought management either don't want to talk about mears or even playing down it's importance. I thought I would post this thread to make people aware of it.

To make a long story a little shorter and easier to understand M.E.A.R.S is something to do with the AI and this new version is aprarently going to be so smart it will negate the need for staff to actually key the mail. I have not made that up it's pretty much word for word that a senior royal mail manager told union reps as a recent meeting in london.

Now I don't want to scare people far from it but I do want to open peoples eyes to the very real threat that M.E.A.R.S could pose to us the MDEC workers. From what I understand it will be up and running by 2012. Thats not to say that we are all safe until 2012, That would be too easy. Plymouth are gearing up to "Trial" some new equipment very soon.

I'd normally not even pay very much attention to stuff like this as management would love us the actual staff the AI was able to do it all already. What makes me wonder is when certain managerial staff will be the very last MDEC manager.

I think the vast majority of MDEC keyers hope they will be long gone by 2012.

It's funny you should say that most people have been at the mdec for a good few years but they fail to ever leave. I'm actually quite worried about the potential mears poses. when are people going to get worried about it when it's being installed :no no

Those people are obviously exceptions to the rule.

You, of course, are one of them! Having done 18 months of this, I'm struggling to envisage another 18 months at the MDEC. Anyway, maybe it's like a fish net, one you're in, you never leave - except to die of course.

I'd settle for the business being straight with us about MEARS. I.e the actual impact the new system is going to have on staff. They seem to think it's going to have a big impact. If you've done eighteen months already then you'll be on a fixed term contract. you may very well be out of a job soon anyway. :confused
