I wonder if a protest, whereby , we ONLY handle these books , deliver these books , and touch nothing else, can
be arranged ? So as not to disappoint the children, of course. I also wonder if this could be arranged via the Sunday Mail, as
well ? :cool

And I wonder as well , if both RM and the Sunday Mail, say NO , could we relay this back to the public via a rival Sunday newspaper ?

We must try and turn this to our advantage. :cool

There may well be some kudos in reading it first, but it didn't stop the cinema moguls releasing the film the week before the book. Pre orders are taken long before the release date of the movie so who cares who's read it first - millions will have seen it before it's available in print, and thousands of kids will be playing the video game before the film comes out.

It's media hype that counts in this case and they will be screaming blue murder if HP isn't on RMs menu on the 21st - so we strike two days before - he's asking for a week with no strikes - well he can have it - drop the strings give us 2.5% and negotiate - he seems well prepared to negotiate a Harry Potter book release - what about the next five years of modernisation?

The film and video game tie in is of the fifth book "Order of the Phoenix". The book release is the the seventh and final book.

If all else fails, they can get the owl post to deliver instead

challenge and reply -

Customer: my child is so disappointed that he will not get his Harry Potter book delivered tomorrow

Postie: my child is so disappointed that I can't even afford to buy it because I'm giving up £60 in wages every time I strike to preserve your postal service
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

Obviously I am a great Harry Potter fan - I didn't realise they were different. But thanks for that!

It is blackmail by RM but the union can play them at their own game. Dave Ward should go to crozier demanding to see the profit figures for the 12 months 06-07, reportedly above £300m. If crozier refuses then DW should tell him bollocks and we are striking on Harry Potter Day. There's not gonna be another book so whynot give it a try.

Amazon

Post by lovejoy »

Did you know that Royal Mail actually own part of Amazons dispatch / delivery arm? It seems rather strange to me that a company you own part of gives their contract to another operator of could it be just another media stunt aimed at protraying us a 'living in the 70s'?

Cynical I know but i wouldn't put it past the two idiots at the top!

no I didn't know that, where did you get that from, perhaps a little more research and we can use that info

As for Harry Potter books lets not forget that we need the public support, I know all this fuss about some crappy kids book is daft but perhaps we should concede to this and make a big fuss about doing it, just to keep the public on side.

Typical of today the hysterical 'Me Me Me' atitude when one of these b****y Potter novels comes out, the screws running round like they have sticks of dynamite where most of their thoughts and prose come from, look after them, don't doorstep etc. (Not that I do anyway) You never got all this nonsense a few years ago, pity the rest of the 1st class and Amazon packets don't enjoy the holy grail treatment these things get. All because someone wants to read a book before their friend down the road. . :d'oh! :d'oh! :no no :no no
