Leighton wants the Walmart model of only 3 layers of management, he'll say the chain of command is too long & nothing can get done.
After the strike Leighton will want rid of managers and get team leaders in as it's cheaper.
I've seen that sort of managers get paid up on the railway, too many tribunuals & people shopping them to the papers, so they become a liability as senior mgt can't always spin themselves out of a corner to cover for them. :lfo

Dont know if its still the case but as of last year Royal Mail operated with a staggering(and unheard of in modern buisness)

That's what makes me laugh about those managers bragging about thier bonuses, if you go swimming with sharks you'll get bitten eventually . They had loads of jobs for the boys on the railway with sectorisation & shadow privatisation but jobs can only be justified to a point & they have to be paid for.
