Royal Mail Next Day Delivery

Hey Guys,

Quick question

I sended an item which was urgent and it did not arrive the next day
I dispatched on Thursday do you think i will receive it on Saturday or have to wait until Monday?

Hello and welcome to the site, there are a lot of good posties on the site so we will try our best to help you. Sadly more information is required before we can help on this occasion.

1) You said you sent the item, then ask when you will receive it. Did you send the item or are you expecting to have it delivered to you?
2) What was the item? Was it a letter, a parcel and where was it sent from and where is it going? (You can be brief here for security)
3) What service did you buy? Royal Mail offer many different products like Special Delivery which is a guaranteed next day delivery and recorded 'signed for' delivery service which can be first or second class with the added protection of a signature on arrival.

Many website shops now offer tax free status and a reduced price because of where they are located (Occasionally Amazon, Play and CDWOW for example), these items will take longer to arrive as will any overseas mail/parcels.

Also there is a backlog due to official strike action over working conditions, that's why brief information on from where it was sent and where it's going is also needed.

I sent it but the person has not received it yet my bad sorry it was supposed to be delivered to my brother

It was a parcel mate and it was Special next day delivery

The parcel was sent from London to Glasgow (Coatbridge) when i go to trace it on the rm website it says
" Your item with reference SC4****1168GB is currently progressing through our network.

Your item is currently progressing through our network for delivery.

To check your item's progress please come back later. "

But before when i checked it said that it will be guaranteed to be delivered on the 18th?

In the normal course of things the item would arrive in Glasgow mail centre sometime in the early hours of Friday morning before being sent out to the Coatbridge office for delivery later that day. Unfortunately there was an unofficial walkout from the Glasgow mail centre Thursday night/Friday morning which, as far as I can see, is the most probable cause for the delay. I would expect delivery to happen today.

We can confirm that your item left the delivery office this morning and should arrive shortly if it hasn’t been delivered already. "

I like the guys who work for Royal Mail the posties/sorting guys etc but i don't like the way in which it is run
Few years back at school i done my work experience in a Royal Mail sorting office was a good laugh and i really enjoyed it :).

Get your claim in for compensation - the item sent next day special is *guaranteed* to arrive the next day providing

To quote the RM website:

This guarantee does not apply if:
We were unable to deliver the item because there was no-one to sign for your item
The delivery address is in an area of the UK where we do not guarantee next day delivery
We do not guarantee the delivery time for items to an address for which a person has paid for our redirection services. The item will be forwarded to the new address using Special Delivery but the money back guarantee does not apply

Assuming none of these apply then:

When you use Special Delivery™ Next Day you can claim compensation up to £500 or the value of the item, whichever is the lower. If the item is more valuable you can buy additional compensation cover up to £2,500.

You can claim compensation for late delivery in writing within 14 days of posting. Remember to include your proof of purchase receipt.

Give it a go for sure but I think you might find that situations 'out of Royal Mail's control (sic)' like an unofficial walkout may void the guarantee.
