It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
Basically as a competitor I have a 17.5% disadvantage in certain sectors right from the beginning. I am currently absorbing 17.5% out of my profits straight away. We have made reprsentation to Postcomm about this as we think it is unfair in a liberalised market. It is true that if the 17.5% was exempt then we could gain considerably more business.
I would also agree with RM regarding competition overseas. I reckon that other European postal markets are not as open as the UK (though the UK has various stealth anti-competition rules in place). It will be after Big Al and Crozier leaves that they may decide to enter Europe. However, each country's postal market is different and requires local knowledge to set-up and expand in. If RM attempts to acquire other businesses and integrate them then that also requires specific skills.
Personally RM's domestic market was so fragile that Big Al's approach of sorting out the UK first was the right move.
Back to work
Newly name F0zzmeister with a few friends now 11 vs 3 I makes it
AHHHHH!!! You have friends on ere Fozz, just it seemed that all your knowlage upset some of us, Me included as i dont trust anyone coming out with even a little bit of sense when talking about RM, as we have been spoon fed in the past. I have said you have come up with a few very good points. I respect the fact you went thru a H+B case in which you came out of after a long time of bad implimentation of the case by RM, as it must of been hell for you. I think they call it a public sector perk and a stealth example of a way to help prevent competition.
TNT Post Uk for example got caught out on this (I may actually work for them, but it wasn't me!) as they took on contracts from banks such as Barclays, and are now having to pay this 17.5% The gamble is to get loads of direct mail volume, which is relatively uniform in size and that goes through super duper machines. THe question is how to deliver them cheaply but to same standard as the boys in blue.
I will manage from the sidelines as all management do, and when I get the sack for poor performance will move upstairs to become Director of Football and act like a fat cat from my exec. box.
LOL!!!! U r more like a old school footie Manager, Like Big Ron.. Or Sam Aladice? HAHAHAHA! In ya TNT SHEEPSKIN on the sidelines swearing @ the ref that it "wasnt a foul " and his backhander is in the post!!!
For someone who dun a fine job in messing poor old Leeds utd up and doing a runner once the ship had sank, how long will it be untill he walks away from Royal mail?
So Fozzie let me get this straight, you arent leighton, you work for a German company thats trying to take our jobs, the same company that crossed our picket lines in the last major strike, and had no problems in ferrying our mail around, and you say its unfair for your company to have to pay 17.5%, what about trying to set up an E2E distribution that doesnt want the out of the way deliveries, but wants to cherry pick, if a TNT driver ever asks me where somewhere is, then i dont know. YOU REALLY ARE A BOSS.
Where is he,you guys scared 'im off!!! :Confused
Or do you reckon he's in Amsterdam for a conference

He might make a Good Manager and know his onions but he's a lousy Keeper.. Wish we picked u in Goal now!!! Anyway im off now as My Dr is calling round for my electric shock treatment,, Watch the lights go out over HERTS In a bout 15 mins,,
he will return, he is busy doing an efficiency drive at TNT now he has finished with Royal Mail, he is sponsored by head & shoulders, the amount of scalps he has taken.
I have just asset stripped a few company's, lost my pension on the stock market, and got concussion from falling over laughing.
I'm back. I said I work for the competition, but never said which one or which organisation.
Trust me when I say that setting up an E2E system in the UK is one hell of a hassle.
1. Zonal pricing on cherry-picking makes it much harder to offer a service. Let me explain:
a: RM will price me on the profile of mail entering their system. If my fall-to-earth profile is rurally biased then I have to pay alot more per item (thank your senior mgmt friends for thinking this one out!)
b: How on earth am I going to compete on quality?
My customers will need to show some considerable goodwill before this works. I am confident many more will transfer, but some will move back just like when BT privatised and when Gas privatised. Please note that RM have split themselves into Retail and Wholesale, just like BT & Centrica. I reckon this is in potential preparation for eventual complete privatisation of Royal Mail. This story has been peddled for many years, so you can dismiss it if you like.
What are your thoughts on management buy-outs of individual delivery offices. For arguments sake you could take control of it. A system works out what you get paid per item and it's down to you to work out how to deliver it as cheaply and with the right quality as possible, and also make a living from it?
Welcome back,customs allright?
Num 1,a,and b TOUGH!!!!!
Privatisation?hey what will be will be,we'll wait and see.
Buy out, what makes you bring this up?wad do you know?
